Fake Tree Horror!!!

Fake Tree Horror!!!

Oh no!!!! I just put up my brand new fake tree that we bought in the beginning of November at Harrows and it is way, way too big for my living room!!! This thing is huge! It fits height wise but it is so wide around that it goes half way across my living room. . It did not look that big in the store! I have no idea if they will talk it back now either because we bought it so long ago! If anyone has any ideas where I can get a smaller tree at this late date please let me know. I don't want a prelit tree so hopefully it will be easier!

Now it's back to Harrows to pray they will take it back. This was not a cheap tree!

We had the EXACT same thing happen to us!!! The thing was so monsterous that we couldn't put it anywhere!

We went to Party City and bought a temporary fake tree for $20 and it's great! It's 6ft. and it doesn't have a lot of girth. It looks beautiful too. We're going to hang on to our big tree for when we have a house to fit it.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who did that. I am going to go to Harrows tomorrow and see if they will take it back and look for something smaller. So I guess I won't be decorating the tree today! . Oh well...if anyone needs a 7 1/2 foot tree that has never been used FM me. I'll sell it to you cheap!

Did you try calling them first? I have a bad perception with trees as well. We get a real tree and I always want a small tree but this thing winds up always being big. Either that, it must grown from the tree lot to the stand.

I called them but no one answered. I think I will go in person tomorrow (without the tree) and talk to a manager and see if they will take it back. If not I will pack it back up in the box and sell it. It is a beautiful tree, so I am sure someone with a bigger living room could use it. I just can't believe my perception was off by so much! Oh well!

Also if you can't sell it to a private household, try maybe the catering halls.... They have high ceilings and open areas.

Wendy - you're a pro at construction and renovation now! Save it and next year, expand the living room to fit the tree!!!

I nearly give DH a heart attack every time I start talking about how we can move this wall out, and build a big curving staircase so we can put a big tree right there..... He just starts mumbling about calling the bankruptcy lawyer.

By the way - still waiting to see pics of your new living room!!!

Karen if I mention another home improvement project I think I will be in divorce court!!! LOL Just kidding. I can't do anymore though. I walked into Home Depot the other day and got hives!!! j/k

Seriously, the tree did not look even close to that big in the store..if I took pictures of how huge it is in the room you would laugh. I know I promised you pics a long time ago. I just never got around to taking them. Once the tree is out of the room I will I promise!

Re: Fake Tree Horror!!!

We did the same thing - our tree takes up half our living room. At least it feels that way. I keep saying that it didn't look THAT big next to the 9 foot tree in the warehouse with 20 foot ceilings

I am sure they will let you exchange it. Good luck!!
