Fall Road Trip

Hi girls, we're planning a road trip to upstate to see the changing of the season, I've always heard how beautiful it is to see the leaves changing color. Has anybody done this? If yes, when it's the best time to do it, and any specific places we should go to? Thank u =)

Fall Road Trip - Long Island Weddings

I went to school in poughtkeepsie and the colors this time of year are breathtaking. Check out the new paltz area. Lots of funky little shops and restaurants and there are many locations to apple and pumpkin pick up there. The drive isn't too bad either (about 2 hours)

This. I went to school in New Paltz and we always had soooo many people coming in through town and going up to Mohonk (we called them Leafers).

It's a really nice ride, and if you want a more scenic route take the Hutch most of the way.

Aww, I finished my masters at NP in May and have since moved to North Carolina. I miss the NY fall colors sooo much!!

This is an absolutely beautiful area, if you are interested in New Paltz and feel like spending, check out the Mohonk Mountain house. Its a resort but they have private hiking trails and its supposed to be breathtaking. Also check out the wine trail in the area, but you have been warned, it is not like Long island where you drive a mile and are at your next winery. There is a lot of distance between wineries but they are all lovely. I recommend Brotherhood winery, it is the oldest one in the country because it ran during prohibition (also was the venue of a winning wedding on Four Weddings :)) I had previously gone to school in Cortland (more western NY) and we frequently travel to Albany to visit FH family, but I'd have to say the New Paltz area is probably the most scenic in the fall.
