My family and my soon-to-be family have never met. I know everyone will get along great when they do meet but I'm anxious for everyone to get togther. My venue does a really nice Sunday bruch and my parents want to take FH's family out and then everyone can check out the venue and the rooms they will be staying in. The trouble is FH and I book up really fast and this brunch wont happen until about 3 weeks prior to the e-party. My question is, if you and your FH have not been together 'forever' how soon before offical wedding events, like the e-party, did families meet?

I've been with FH almost 6 years.
His mom met my family once on Easter a couple years ago.
But his brothers, dad, rest of his family all met my family at our engagement party.
2 of his brothers still haven't met my family because they didn't come to the e-party.
They probably won't meet them until the wedding.

You ladies just made me feel so much better! I was afraid that I was doing something wrong. I have to say that wedding planning brings out a very silly and paranoid side of me that I thought went away in the 90s!

Our families have met......but we were dating for about 4 1/2 years before they did. We still haven't gone out as families yet. I think thats coming soon......

We were together 8 years when we got engaged
My whole family knew his brother and my FMIL knew 2 of my sister's but that was it
We all went out to dinner on a Sunday night about a month before the engagement party
I was so nervous and FH spilled water out of the water pitcher all over the table. It broke the ice
Everything turned out fine but it was nerve racking

Our parents all met on my birthday, we invited FHs parents out with mine about a year ago. But our siblings did not meet until our engagement party in February.

before the engagement party we never had an official like dinner or meeting...but randoms things they have met at before the party in teh past 4 years...
