Well i was waiting for it and it happened. My sister in law called up my mother telling her that my brother is really hurt we didn't ask him to be in the wedding party.
Now to break it down: My side of the family Sister in Law - bridesmaid Niece - Flower girl Nephew - ring bearer
My friend dave is my best man
Now FH's Side of the family Brother in law - Best Man Nephew - Groomsmen Niece - bridesmaid
So that made it a 3 to 3 ratio for families with a friend as extra. I thought that was nice to keep family even. Honestly I thought my bro didn't want anything to do with the wedding. He seemed angry that I was getting married so I didn't ask FH to ask him as a groomsman. SO NOW WHAT??? I feel if i bring it up now my bro is going to make it into 'oh now you want me'. Grrrrr.... I did want him and i plan to explain that to him just figured he didn't want be bothered to be in the wedding party.
SO now family drama finally hit our wedding. My bro is going on vaca on wens and when he gets back i guess fh and i will go over his house and ask him and i pray that my explaining that we felt he didn't want to be in the party will hopefully ease his mind and make him know that we did want him.

we didnt ask either of my brothers to be in the bridal party. i'm still waiting to here that they are pissed.
maybe there is something else your bro can do?

FH didn't ask my brother yet, and I don't think hes going to! Although I did say I want his son to be my ring bearer! Hey, what could u do? I'd definitely explain it to him and maybe have him be involved in some other way. But people got to understand we can't make everyone happy!

i dont get what the big deal is with not being in a BP - it doesnt mean you love them any less and make sure he knows that!
i am having my brother and sister each do a reading, they are not in my BP
don't feel bad you have a good reason for not having him!

im sure he will understand when u talk to him..just explain that u really did want him to be involved but u didnt think hed want the hassle...if u knew that he would have been asked a long time ago

I think this is an issue we all have!!! My mom was so upset that I didn't ask my male cousin - we already have 7 BM and 7 GM, I am like how many more people can we have?!!!!

Yea i would never think that my bro would of been hurt... EVER but he is so hardcore cop that you never know how he feels. It is so hard to read him. NOW i am so upset that i offended him so i can't wait to ask him as long as FH is okay with it. Fh is sleeping and hasn't picked his phone up so i await for his final okay tomorrow.

i got the same thing from my cousin. I decided since I dont have her in my party. I will ask the people who mean something to me, to read a passage at the church. That way they can be included without the hassle. At least they know you want them to be a part of your day. Good Luck

no offense to your brother, but it kind of sounds like he is just being difficult. but on the other hand, maybe he came around and realized he shouldn't be mad that you're getting married and wants to be part of your special day.
either way, once you explain it to him i really hope he understands and accepts. and if he doesn't then he obviously WAS just being difficult and then you'll know that he really didn't want to be involved and you were right not to ask in the first place.
