Family Drama - NWR

Ok so some of ya'll know that I was talking about my Grandmother's recently diagnosed Breast Cancer. Back on Friday night when I found out.... I posted on my Facebook... ' Cancer ***** and that's all there is to it!' So of course concerned friends were asking me what's going on and I explained that it wasn't me but that my grandma has a lump and she's seeing the surgeon next week blah blah blah. Plus other friends sharing similar experiences and words of encouragement. All loving and supportive messages, which is nice.

Well..... I get a call on Sunday afternoon from my 2 older cousins in NJ. Apparently, they weren't informed of what was going on. They read about it on my Facebook status. How was I to know that their mother, my Aunt, didn't tell them?!!?!?.
Now.... they're all pissed at me, emailing me, saying it's a private matter and please take it off the computer etc...

My parents didn't seem to have a problem with me posting on my facebook but I still feel like I'm being attacked!! I can admit that posting this maybe wasn't the wisest act but... come on! The cancer is the bad guy... not me!!!

I don’t see anything wrong with posting that! Its your grandma too and it’s not your fault their mother didn’t tell them they are mad that they didn’t find out another way and it’s not like you posted it to everyone you know only people that check your page will see it and the people who check your page are concerned about you or they would not be checking on you

That's not right for them to get mad at you for that. It was harmless!

I thought sharing experiences like this spreads awareness and can encourage women to actively do breast exams.

Don't let them get to you!

I see both sides of the issue.

I would personally take it down so as not to continue drama.

Let it go

I would tell them it's not your fault that their parents didnt tell them... they should have a problem with that and not the fact that you said it on FB...

like you said, there are far more important things to worry about... like the fact that your gma might possibly have cancer...

I totally agree...it's not your fault that their mother didn't tell them. I also agree with the fact that whatever you write on your facebook is only viewable by people who you allow to see it. For those who tell you to take it off your site then I would tell them to then not look at it.

My mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer (thankfully recovered after a very long process) so, my prayers are with you. IMO, continue to focus on your grandmother and not worry about the others.

I can definitely understand both sides. But I don't think its right of them to get mad or tell you what to do.

I removed the comments that mentioned who was involved to stope the drama..... but yea and the email from my cousins sounded so legal and impersonal.... just makes me mad!!!

I can see both sides, just change it and move on...

My family HATES HATES HATES when anything involving them is a facebook status, my mom in particular, so I just leave it to the statuses that involve me.

Like the old adage goes: Don't post anything on the internet you don't want on the front page of the newspaper.
