Family Gathering Stress

Hello Ladies,

So I need to vent. My family is hosting a family gathering next Sunday for our families to meet. The party is now up to 43 people because extended family suddenly became invited. Last week there was pressure for me to register prior to the gathering, so i registered for some items at bed bath and people have bought them! including my 500.00 pot set. I know I should be happy but this was not labeled as an engagement party but it seems to be becoming that... Do I just let it go because I feel bad when I have a shower in a few months...

any feed back thoughts, has anyone else received gifts prior?

I know how you feel!! My mom wants our families to 'get together' and I'm like, nooooo because I'm having a housewarming in two months
I have to keep reminding her of that so that it doesn't turn into like two big events. I keep saying, immediate family only!!
I say don't worry about it though because if your family wants to do it and people already know you are having a shower coming up (they should at least assume there will be one) and they are still bringing gifts then they obviously want to. Don't stress!

Thanks girl... I'm trying to just let it go but I dont want ppl to in four months saying ohh shes looking for another gift lol

we got a TON of gifts prior to our e-party, which was already super early (end of march, wedding in october 2013 lol). we wanted the party sooner just so our families could really meet but had and have NO PLACE to put any of the way too many things we got!

FH and I got engaged 12/24/09 and had our engagement party august 2010. We got so much stuff that has been sitting in my parents house all this time... I wouldnt stress it.. Like the other girls said.. Theyre bringing stuff because they want to!!!
