All three of my siblings are not on speaking terms. Two of them don't talk to my mother. One of them isn't even coming to the wedding because of all of it and now I'm in the middle.
What do I do? Seat them across the hall from each other? Take pictures at separate times? Not only are they not speaking...they have an immense hatred towards each other that can't even be described.
I'm having such a hard time with this. It's been going on for quite some time and was hoping all along that it would be resolved by the wedding.. Now it's 84 days and counting and they hate each other more than ever.
This really s u c k s

ITA! You shouldn't have to go through a headache of sitting them on opposite ends of the room or worrying about their problems with each on your wedding day. If they love you, they can hold back the claws for one day.

Re: Family Issues
yuck! i'm so sorry! if its as bad as you describe, it might be in everyone's best interest to sit them as far away from each other as possible. maybe with other family members so they are each seated with family. its bites, but will avoid problems in the long run.
in regards to pictures, as them if they would like to just stand for pictures with everyone. they wouldn't have to talk to each other at all before or after, heck or even during the picture taking, but if they refuse, take seperate pics

Re: Family Issues
OMG that sucks.
Are you able to talk to them and see what they would prefer? Maybe you can take separate pics and seat them at different tables. it doesn't have to be across the hall. Just do your best and hope they act like adults for you
ETA: I think if you show you want to accomodate them they will hopefully try toi accomodate you

Re: Family Issues
im so sorry and I TOTALLY understand
my one sister and her 3 children are not invited to the wedding to avoid family drama on my side of the family
and my FMIL HATES her mother so we are inviting my FH's grandma only to the ceremony and we have lied and told her we are only have a small reception
it stinks all around... maybe seat them at different tables on other sides of the room and yes....take turns taking pictures :(

Re: Family Issues
ayayay!!!! hate is such a bad thing, plus it gives u wrinkles in ur face and in ur heart. I'd invite all of them, I'm sure they'll behave as adults, if they're that kind of people that tend to start verbal/physical fights, then don't even bother inviting them, remember this is ur day and u don't need that type of headache

Re: Family Issues
Thank you ladies.
They ARE the types to start screaming and get physical. They have all said they wouldn't do that at my wedding, but I know them for 33 years. They may say one thing, but in the heat of the moment do another - turn around and apologize to me and I'll be expected to forgive them. I am so stressed about this wedding alone, not to mention it turning into a Jerry Springer event.

Seat them far apart, the way the riviera is set up they won't even barely see each other!

Re: Family Issues
I didn't put any of my brothers and sisters at the same table. I did pictures with them separately. I didn't do the family portrait because I know my family. Let them be the boss of them own table.

Re: Family Issues
I would let them know that they are going to have to suck it up for pics, but I would site them apart from each other.
They can get over it, and if they don't want to- then they don't need to attend the wedding. In my cranky old age, I am of the belief that if people don't like what you are doing, then they don't need to be there. End of story
