My MOH sent out a mass email to all of my BM's giving them the heads up about the Bachelorette's party. Just to let them know when she wants to do it and how much it's going to be, blah blah blah. So, my sister sends her an email back asking her about the Bridal Shower. And she promptly tells my MOH that my family is NOT throwing me one because I was supposed to get married in 2000 and I didn't and my family doesn't think that I deserve to get another shower. Huh? Did I miss something here? I didn't get married. Why should I be penalized for that? Does anyone but myself find this to be totally rediculous?

Re: Family Pettiness/Drama
yea not only ridiculous but i cant believe that she would tell you that.... i would have kept it to myself and explained to them that either they are a part of it or i would make it known that they did not contribute to the shower

I did. Me and my ex fiancee didn't get married. Things ended really badly with him. He pretty much threw me out of the house and he kept all the gifts from the shower.

they do realize that was 8 years ago - even if you did get married - people who get married a 2nd time have showers....

I realize that and you realize that. Lots of people realize that. But apparently we're not dealing with rational people here. I sat in my Aunt's kitchen a few months ago and she told me 'I don't know why you would even bother having a shower. Nobody would give you gifts. They're still pissed off that you never got married the first time.' Uhm, ok.

Re: Family Pettiness/Drama
wow well that is really messed up since it was 8 yrs ago and its not the same FH then of course u should have a shower......think of it this way if a woman waited 8 yrs between having her next child most of the time u give another shower at least thats what we are doing in my family
either way u should not be peanalized if they dont want to buy u something they should at least come to celebrate your happy event

I'm not really sure. My mom told me she wasn't throwing me a shower. She didn't say she wasn't going to give me a gift.

Close enough. I don't see them everyday. My extended family I'm not so close with.

Im so sorry that you have to deal with this. Sometimes people in our lives that we are close with - can be very unpredictable ... I am sure whether they come/give you a gift or not, even though it will hurt, your FHs family will have a fantastic shower with you - and I am sure that would make your family feel like sh!t to know how good his family is treating you and how bad they are going to look...

I think that's just plain mean. I mean really....do they think things like that don't happen. I think it's selfish of your family to still be bitter over something that happened so long ago. S h i t happens. Your starting a new life and they should be supportive of you.

I've realized this after my FH's parent's gave us a huge down payment for our RH and my parents have given us nothing towards the wedding. I guess they're just not interested. I love my parents, but, at this stage in my life I've come to accept them for who they are. Sometimes they just aren't interested. My younger sister is getting married 2 months after I am and they are more wrapped up in her wedding.

People are pissed that you didn't get married??? ***?????? They should be happy that you didn't make the worst mistake of your life. Keep your head up. Don't let them get you down.

Wow thats really mean i think u should let your family you know about this email & talk to them about it. Maybethey can split it with the Bridal Party? And maybe the Bach. party can be toned down a bit so that the BParty is spending a fortune for your wedding. Just some suggestions. But talk with your family first!
