family's driving me crazy!!!!

My mom just IMs me telling me that i need to buy a new veil because the one i have (which i bought at the stupid bridal store for $150!!!!) has no blusher and i *need* one. Apparently, you need a blusher in a Jewish wedding (though the Rabbi had no problem with the fact that i don't have one). What's even more annoying is that my mom is the one who MADE me buy this stupid veil when she saw it. i wasn't going to! now she wants me to buy another one?! what the ef?!

then she's telling me about how my aunt wants me to be wearing gloves at hte ceremony. i responded with 'absolutely not' and then told her i need to go and i signed off.

she's driving me crazy!!!!

i can't freaking wait for this to just be over

yeah...

and as far as the aunts go... i agree with you theres no reason why they should be dictating your wedding wardrobe

Mor, do we have the same mother????? LOL
my mom too wanted me to get gloves cause 'they look so elegant'
I said NOOOOOOO! and that was the end of it

and the blusher thing, u dont have to have (but do check w/ur Rabbi). I had a blusher, and DH removed it the moment we got to the huppa
but then again, I wanted to have it and the Rabbi didnt tell me anything.
what else I was wearing a strapless dress, and the Rabbi had no problem with that, eventho I had a very sephardic orthodox ceremony (with talit covering both of us half way thru the ceremony and all)

FM me if u want to talk things out

If the Rabbi says you don't need a blusher, then you don't need one! If you want, give him a call just to confirm and then let your mom know. Final Answer.

I'm not a blusher person. I know a lot of girls like the sentiment/traditional aspect of them, but I'm soooooo not one of them! I think they're archaic and unnecessary. JMHO Don't kill me!

Anyway, don't listen about the gloves either. That just made me mad. lol

In the end, Mom just wants everything to be perfect with the least amount of snags as possible. She will stop annoying you sooooon!!!!

lol, mine is usually normal .... i guess she's becoming a bit of a momzilla lately

i had a meeting with the Rabbi on Monday and he asked about my veil ... i said i have no blusher and he said it's fine ... so there, mom! :-P

and ps: the whole reason blushers exist is because way-back-when, weddings were set up by the families and before the days of the blusher, the groom would see the bride and think she's ugly so he'd run away ... the blusher hid the bride so that the groom couldn't see her until they were officially 'stuck' togehter

Just buy the blusher, call the bridal salon where u bought ur veil from, the may able to add it on. It cost me $25 to add a blusher to my veil.

I think you can just buy a blusher and a piece of velcro and just attach it

The blusher I think can easily be removed so after the ceremony you can take it off. If you're really against the blusher (I was, and told my mom under no terms will I be wearing one), give her the rabbi's number.

As for gloves, my mother wanted me to wear them too. I told her it wasn't 1989 anymore..

I was just going to say the same thing! I have a detactchable blusher so I can take it off at the ceremony when my MOH takes my flowers.

I agree, add the blusher if it's inexpensive (it should be). And tell your aunt that you will gladly wear gloves at your hot AUGUST wedding, only if she wears the scarf, earmuffs, and the hat!

Definitely don't buy a new veil just buy a blusher and then you can remove the blusher after the ceremony and just keep the veil on if you want.

i agree with the other girls

just buy the detachable one, they havethe ones that stay on with velcro and then u take them off after the ceremony.

its cheaper that way

Re: family's driving me crazy!!!!

you dont need an actual blusher as far as I understand - if the veil is long enough you just flip it over your face and it acts as a blusher for the bedeken....i'm assuming thats what your mom was referring to?
