FH and I want to get dressed up and go out Sunday night. We never go anywhere fancy so we want to go all out. Any fancy shmancy restaurant recommendations for NYC? We want an experience!

It depends how much you want to spend... Buddakan is amazing!! It's really swanky and clubby feeling inside.. Craft - Tom Colicchio's restaurant is really good and a nice atmosphere.. Kuma Inn - Lower East Side, asian fusion tapas, food is really amazing, it's hidden on a second floor and there's no signs when you enter.. Ivo and Lulu - Lower East Side, French Caribbean BYOB, cute little place with really good food but small menu La Esquina - Upscale Mexican, never been there but have only heard good things

the fanciest restaurant I've been to in the city was the Maze by Gordan Ramsey. Tiny, pretty plates and like 6 servers waitng on you. definitely an experience but I've had more satisfying food at more casual places. The food there was GOOD and definitely creative but our bill was well over 200 and I wanted to be BLOWN away because i love ramsey!

I've gone to two very fancy restaurants in nyc. One is Maze by Gordon Ramsey and the other is The Gramecy Tavern.
But my favorite is the Gramercy Tavern. They have a wonderful 6 course tasting menus every season along with a regular dinner menu. They also have an extremely large wine list that blows any restaurant out of the water. This is the place where i had a 40 yr old port wine. i've been to a lot of fancy pants places, but my favorite is Gramercy Tavern. there's just something amazing about the food and service there!
