I want to offer petal cones, but was also thinking of fans since it's a early afternoon at the end of July. Are the paper fans really worth it? I remember in school teachers telling me that fanning yourself makes you hotter. Honestly - did anyone thing they were that valuable or a waste of paper/money? The guests are greeted with champagne, then the petal cones and now something else to hold? That alone may make them hot (LOL).

Re: Fans
I went to a wedding last summer at Crescent Beach Club, the ceremony & cocktail hour were outside & the bride and groom used the fans for their programs. It was a HUGE hit!

Re: Fans
I have great links for well prices paper, sandalwood and fabric fans if you need them. I was going to use them for my BM instead of flowers but they preferred bo-ks.

I'm doing fans... I probably won't get one for every guest..maybe just one a couple because the guys most likely won't use it..but I am sure the ladies will love it!

Re: Fans
Def doing fans and petal cones. MY DIY. If you go to the store and buy the cardstock program paper that folds over you can make it that way and add a stick to them. Super cheap, someone made them at the wedding of the year and they were great. I got paper on sale in target which is actually for a program for like 12 bucks for 100 and 300 of those sticks to use for handles from Walmart for 3 bucks.

Re: Fans
Anyone want to post pictures of the finished product? I like the idea of the pic of the bride and groom in the fan, but it souds harder to make and like you need a good printer - what kind of paper? I have a regular ink jet printer - would that suffice? Let me know if anyone knows what kind of paper may work. I'd want kind of a faded picture - how do you do that? I'm so bad at DIY...

I think the fans are a nice idea. Perhaps you can print your programs on the paper and have them folded into fans.
Btw- I'm a teacher and I tell my kids that they will make themselves hotter when they fan themselves!

Re: Fans
If you want to 'fade' a picture so it is almost a watermark, you need to use adobe. I can do it for you-its very simple and quick. if you do decide to go that route, send me the pics you'd like in the largest resolution you have it (shrinking caused wierd pixelation when you try to resize larger) and I'll do it for you and email it back. Takes all of 5 minutes. Just screwing with the opacity. I did it for my cards that we put our STDs in-Made a 'watermark' of us on the inside.
And yes, I use inkjet and it is fine for most things.
