Fans, need opinions
Can you tell I am using my vacation week to make decisions I have been putting off? Sorry this is a little long because there is a story behind my dilemma.OK so rewind to four years ago when single Michelle and her mom happen into Fortunoffs (a thriving store) during their awesome bridal event. We walked by a table that had invitations and programs and something jumped out at me... fan programs. I knew then and there that it was something I wanted when I got married. Mind you, Jason was still temporarily out of the picture.
So my mom started looking into getting fan programs (in my colors of course) and it turns out they are $3 each, which is a lot in this economy. With about 250 guests we are looking at $750 in programs. I am so upset. My mom offered to pay for half of them if I pay for the other half. But I am student teaching so other then a few hours a week at Ritas I have no money. I have a choice then, $3 fan programs or saving my money to get FH a grooms cake or to get the shell candles I want.
Our other idea was to get fans and attach programs to it. The place I did my invitations said they could make us a one page program to attach to fans for about $1 each. The fans are about $1.50 so it would probably still be about $2.50 for each, but at 250 people thats $625 and its something people can keep. I liked these fans
or these:
My mom found these from Oriental Trader that you can paint on, they are .49 each but I think they look cheesy. That brings us to about $1.50 a program.
So what do I do....
Fan programs $700
Pretty fans with programs $625
Oriental Trader fans with programs $375
Forget the Fans, do 1 page programs only $250
Forget the fans, do normal book programs. $500
I am so confused. (Remember mom will cove up to $300 for programs, after that it has to come from my nearly non existent pay.)

I bought the paper fans in the city. I agree they are a little cheesy but I am getting married outside in June and figured its better than nothing. I got them in the city for .30 each.

Re: Fans, need opinions
Well if you are die hard on getting fans, I would just do the OT ones I mean they wont look cheesy (not that they do from the pic anyway) and once your program in on them you wont see it... side note: I LOVE program fans, no way in h ell could I afford them so I am making my own. I originally wanted to do the fan thing you are thinking of doing like putting it on a fan but it doesnt come out good because you cant close the fan if its a one page program, just an FYIgo with the cheap ones, please will just throw them out trust me... only you and immediate family are going to actually keep them
the pic of my fan was a really early sample.. I changed the color and thats on regular paper.. I will be using hard card stock in my colors and adding ribbon to the bottom
