Farah and Liz--I just heard the sound that yarn makes...

I now know what Farah was talking about when she said her DH complained about the sound that yarn makes.

A bunch of us had lunch together today and one girl was knitting and I heard the yarn squeaking.

Ordinarily the yarn squeak wouldn't bother me but we are spending our lunch hours this week watching Pride and Prejudice and the squeaking was distracting us from gazing and hanging onto Colin Firth's every word and movements.

Oh yeah, my mom just bought me yarn to make about 5 more scarves for her, my dad, my brother, my MIL and some extra. I will be busy these days.

It's an awful, awful noise!!!

WHen I was home, I visited my grandmother who has been knitting like it was her job! (but for some reason she won't sell the scarves she's been making ) Anyway, she was showing us everything and every time she pulled out another scarf she would put it around her neck...she had about eight on before I was like Nan, are you on speed????

She tried to give me 4!! But I ended up taking two for me and one for my MIL>

But, she also gave me a book on how to knit, so that should help me out a bit. I'm about to cast off on the scarf that I've been knitting forever...except I can't figure it out!!!!!

Oooh Grandma-made scarves! Awesome!

Casting off/binding off is not as difficult as it looks. Once you do two stitches and realized you're doing it right, the rest is easy.

It is such an addiction

I have yet to hear this sound!! Maybe I'll buy a bunch of yarn tonight and try to make the sound!

Farah, I have the hardest time binding off, it's like my fingers suddenly go epileptic!

I think the squeaking may also depend on the needles. This girl was using wooden needles.

I just bought acrylic needles. Flexible.
