farm weddings

So I'm looking into having our wedding at a farm out east. Has anyone else done this? I could use some help figuring out how to plan something like this.

My advice...hire a wedding planner! You are going to have to find every vendor, from food to decor to even bathrooms...most farms out east don't have a bathroom you can use. I know that it can get very costly and time consuming. But if you hire a wedding planner that has experience with doing farm/barn weddings the end result can be beautiful!!

i desperately wanted a barn wedding! it's the opposite of east, but if you're open to it, check out the queens county farm museum. the barn space is fantasic, and the opportunity for pics on hayrides and with piggies is great. the only reason we didn't book it was that the only one of their outdoor spaces i liked to have cocktail hour closes at the end of september, and we have an october date. the caterers they use is very reasonably priced, and you don't have to have tables, chairs, etc brought in if you use the barn

Are you looking at the Hallockville Museum Farm? That's where my fiance and I looked to have our wedding at first. The only reason I decided against it was because we wound up having much more people than the barn fit. You could rent a tent to put up behind the barn. Check out Marrymelovely.com for some long island catering vendors. Good Luck!

My cousin had his wedding at a farm out east it actually turned out Really nice. They had a tent outside of the barn also. I don't know any of the specifics but I will try to find out for you!

Re: farm weddings

Martha Clara Vineyards has a location/gallery that is literally a barn! With finished floors that is.

It also has a small sheep/pig/turtle petting area that unfortunately does smell like a barn too!! (The barn doesn't smell) If you have kids I think they would love it.

Here's a link I found to a wedding that shows the different locals. The first picture is in the main shopping/cocktail room building. The second is the barn. (Two different buildings)

The third shows the view from the 'cocktail/tasting room', so you can see the animal petting area and the barn right behind it to the left.

I'd definitely consider this a 'farm' wedding, with a vineyard too!

Farm/Vineyard Wedding

I also saw it set up with a tent attached to the other side of the barn if you want to do that too. There was a lot of land on the other side of the barn. I THINK I remember seeing horses but I can't be sure.

I am getting married at Martha Clara Vineyard this summer, and it is exactly the barn/vineyard feel you are asking about. We are getting married in the vineyards, cocktail hour outside in the vineyards, then moving into the restored rustic barn for recepetion. FM me if you have any questions, I am like a seasoned pro having planned it mostly myself! (I do have a DOC though) Good luck!

Go take a trip to the tanger outlets and then go various wine tastings in the summer. I still know nothing about wines but, it's fun!
