DH and I are thinking of buying a home is Farmingville. Everytime we tell someone farmingville they ask us if the neghboorhood is good??? From what we can tell it is very nice...but maybe other people know something we don't about the area.
Honestly, I would get a map of the area and drive around and see if it's somewhere where you would feel comfortable shopping, sending your children to school, etc. Farmingville has some very nice areas but it also has some questionable areas too.
The mountian area streets off of Granny Road ( MT Rounier, etc..)

I live right there!! I think some areas are gorgeous.. I have to say you should do a google search though. The 'Im just assuming illegal immigrant' population is VERY large here. They line the streets in the morning for work on North Ocean Avenue. If that doesnt bother you then Id come look!
The area is nice, and the school district is pretty good. However, they are having MAJOR immigration problems - alot of controversy in the town, and it is true that they line the streets in the morning and throughout the day. I live in the next town, and see it every morning driving to work.
