Father as best man? Poll

My FI really wants to use his father as his best man. He doesn't have a 'best guy friend' and he doesn't have any brothers. I am of the opinion that if that what he wants he should do it. But he feels weird. Is this something that has been done? I know that normally the bridal party is people around your age group and parents usually have their own special place at their kids wedding. So what are your thoughts? No matter what you answer tell me why you feel the way you do. Thanks for your help girls

My FH and I are in the exact same situation. His father will be his best man too.

My FI is having his father as the Best Man. I thought it was the sweetest thing, and his father was really touched that he asked him.

My husband sincerely wished that his father was around so that he could have asked him to be his best man! ( his father passed on ) there are no rules for that, if fh wants his dad to be his best man then he should ask him!!!! Without a doubt!!!!

My Fi asked his Dad to be his best man. His dad was so touched he cried. I think you can do whatever you want it is your wedding

I 100% think you can do it. It is your wedding. I have seen it done twice and at the last wedding I cried - her mom was the MOH and his dad was the best man. It was the sweetest thing!

My brother had our dad as his best man. FH doesn't really have any close guy friends either...so I told him to ask his dad...but he felt funny also. So...he asked his BIL. But I think it's a wonderful idea!
