All the weddings that I have been to, it's towards the end, usually right before or right after the cake cutting.
My cousins wedding had it right after the 1st dance. Other than that, I have seen it by the cake cutting

I've seen it both ways. I think we want to do it after the cake cutting only because we don't want our first dance to last the entire song. We want to invite other couples onto the dance floor with us and we can't exactly kick them off the dance floor to have the parent dances directly afterwards. HTH!
I have seen it done after the 1st course and I have also seen it done after the cake cutting. I am choosing to do it after the 1st course because my dad drank the whole night at my sis's and was a little messy when it came time to dance with my sis!
