OKay so how does this work? Do I pick out a song for my dad or does he pick one out for me?

My father and I are so alike in musical tastes, he and I both liked the same song - I asked him if he would be okay to dance to it and he gave it a listen and he said he would try, but he's the one that pointed out the song to me by a different artists I had chosen!

I know that feeling - my father will eb fine, I'll be in tears or shaking at least!
As for choosing, you can pick or your dad can - or play him 3 choices and ask for his advice. Take it from there.

I think you can do it either way.
BTW, I am dancing to 'Because you loved me' with my dad but the Spanish version. The lyrics are beautiful for a father/daughter dance.
It's a surprise for my dad. I think he will love the fact that it is in Spanish (his first language).

You can do it either way. I don't think my father really has an opinion, so I'm picking the song. He hasn't asked so far what the song is, but I'll let him know if he asks. We're dancing to In My Daughter's Eyes.

its funny that you ask that because i was going to pick the song and my dad already told me that HE is picking out the song. He wants it to be from him! I thought it was sweet and whatever he picks will be fine wiht me...although knowing him it will be a joke because that is our relationship!

It can definitely go either way. I am choosing the song for my dad and trying to keep it a secret, but I think he knows. It is so obvious cause it is his favorite song (What a Wonderful World) and we dance to it at every function/party.

They are all really nice songs. I didn't give my Dad say in choosing a song, I picked 'My Girl'... if he had a choice... well it could have been scary. (We are a BIG Heavy Metal family )

Im using Josh Grobans 'You raise me up' and at first I was gonna leave it for a surprise at the wedding but I ended up telling him the other day.
So as you can see it doesnt really matter who picks the song, just pick something that means something to the both of you

another suggestion is 'beautiful in my eyes' by joshua kaddison. it was used at a wedding i attended and it just magnified the moment. very nice feeling!

My father passed away about 9 years ago, so I'm trying to convince my mother to dance with me to 'In My Daughters Eyes'! I Love that song!

My dad and I danced to 'Because You Loved Me' at my Sweet 16, so I'll probably choose that again.
