I am not very close with my father but I still am going to do a father/daughter but need a song which would be appropriate for out relationship, Something not very mushy or lovey dovey; just a nice song. Any suggestions would help. TIA!!

Thats would be a good choice and the idea of capturing the essence of the day is such a good way to put what I am looking for but...this is going to sound mean but I had a great relationship with my grandfather and he just passed in December and Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin era songs remind me so much of him and it would be so contradictory thinking of the special relationship him and I had while dancing with my father. Sorry if I sound coldhearted and a meany. Thank you for the reply...wouldve been a great choice

How about In My Life by the Beatles. I look at that song as something that just depicts change.

I'm in the same situation but I am not sure if I will be dancing with my mother or father. I know a mother daughter dance sounds crazy but I haven't decided yet.

I don't think it sounds crazy my sister had a dance with both... the one with our Dad was more 'offical' but my mom loved her dance with her as well later on. My friend did this also, both were very touching

Hmm...I will check out the suggestions when I get home. Thank you! glad to know other girls are in my position. For my bat mitvah, I did a mother/daughter dance only...my mom loved it of course, but honestly, I felt weird. But im also not too close with her either, lol- O godd!

I don't think a dance with your mother sounds crazy at all. I am not super close with my dad either. I think I'm still doing a dance with him but I'm also doing one with my mom. Actually, a few of my cousins who are very close with their dads did dances with their moms as well.

There is a song by, I believe his name is, Marc Cohn...it's called 'A Song For My Daughter'. It's a little sentimental but I think it will work for me because I was closer with my dad when I was younger. Check it out because it's a nice song without being overly sappy.
