I sent my dad a list of 8 songs... he said no to all of them!!!!!!!!!!! I was seriously sitting there crying listening to these songs because I'm such a sap and he's like. 'These ****' OK he didn't say they **** but he did say he didn't like them!!
This was the list:

I feel you! So many of the father daughter songs make me cry, but truly, they don't represent my dad at all, and he would never be into them.
One more suggestion for your list- a song called 'My Wish' by Rascal Flatts (you can google the lyrics and youtube the actual song).
Maybe ask dad what it is that he likes about 'A song for my daughter' and that will help you find another song that you like better that still meets his preferences (ie. lyrics, music sound...)
I'm actually doing an totally non-traditional song because we're dancing to a lullabye that my dad used to sing me when I was a kid. I don't think any other person in the world would pick this song, but I don't care, it was the song my dad liked and it has importance to us. It's not so much the lyrics to the song that will be emotional, but what it makes me remember. Maybe thinking outside the box can help you two agree.

My dad said that he wants a really short song...he doesn't like being the center of attention and would prefer to not even do the father/daughter dance! All of these songs sound like good suggestions!

maybe you should ask him what kind of song he was thinking of... fast? slow? sappy? not sappy? my dad and i did not want a sappy song that we were going to sit and cry over lol... we're big rock fans so we picked sweet child o mine by guns and roses lol... its definitely different but we made up a little dance and we know we're going to have fun dancing instead of crying lol... maybe he wants a song with a faster tempo?
