Father David Grainson

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well....I need some help...my fiance and I are trying to find an officiant for the wedding...we want a priest because we are catholic and we want to hold onto a little bit of tradition, does anyone know how Father David Grainson is? Also, please if you have used him or spoken to him, what were his prices like? Like many of us on here, we are on a strict budget...but I just want to put the feelers out and see if anyone has an info for Father David....thank you in advance everyone!!!

As far as I know, a catholic priest cannot marry you outside of a catholic church. I can be completely wrong, though. This past month, my friend was about to have Father Bob Allman marry her and her fiance at her venue. Later they found out the 'church' he belongs to is not recognized by the Vatican. Be careful!

ITA! Please be careful with Catholic priests who say they will marry you outside of a Church. I met with my former pastor who is a Bishop and he explained to me that the ONLY time a Catholic Priest will perform a wedding outside of a Church is in the case of an interfaith marriage. If that's the case, you need special dispensations (which is really just extra paperwork).

Absolutely correct. Check with your local RC church to discuss. I am sure they would be happy to tell you the ins and outs of a true Catholic wedding.

Hi

This is Fr David. What everyone is saying is absolutley correct.

The Roman Catholic church will not allow one of its clerics to perfrom a wedding outside of a church building.
Weddings between Catholics outside of the church building are not following Canon law and are not recognized by Rome.

However, I am NOT a priest under the Roman church anymore.
I was ordained as one in 1998. But have left to be married and raise a family.
The weddings I officiate at are according to the RCC form, but are not recognized by the Church. I am always very open about that.
The reason I refer to myslef as a priest is because , according to RCC theology, once you are ordained a priest, you are always a priest.

My typical couples are those who want faith and Christ present at their wedding and prefer the familiar form of the RCC rite, but don't particularly need it to be recognized by the Vatican.

What I have always believed and share with couples is that God is in the RC church, but is not bound in it.
God blesses any marriage that is done in genuine love and hope regardless of where it happens.
