I have been going nuts trying to figure out a gift to give to my dad at the rehearsal dinner. I'm paying for my mom's hair and makeup so that couldn't be a combined gift for both of them. I finally decided and I think it's a good idea but you girls let me know. My dad was obsessed with our dog who we just had to put down. He's so terribly sad now. We got our dog from North Shore years ago. I think I'm going to make a donation in our dog's name for my dad's wedding gift. Even though it has nothing do with the wedding I think he would appreciate that the most. What do you think?

Re: Father gift - how does this sound?
Very thoughtful of you.
What do you think your dad's reaction would be? Upset or happy?
Only saying this because he might be reminded of the dog and maybe be sad at the dinner. You know your dad the best though.
I say go for it. That is very thoughtful and heartfelt.

I think he'd be happy. FH said we should just give him our dog - I told him I'd give him away before Jeter!

lolol ha! have your hubby as your dad's pet that would be hilarious.
So there you go if your dad would be happy, definitely do it then. It will give him solace to know a donation was made in his dog's name.

I think it is sweet, and maybe a picture in a nice frame of him and the dog along with it.
