Does he rent a tux with the groomsmen or does he wear a suit? Also if he gets a tux does it have to be similar to the groomsmen? What about the father of the groom, what does he wear?

father of the bride and groom get different tuxes - normally a black tux with a black tie/vest.

Agreed. Tho usually the tie/vest is made to match the color that the MOB/MOG is wearing.

they wear whatever you want them to wear!!! that's the long and short of it.
but it all depends on how you want it all to look.
my dad wore a tuxedo. dh's dad wore a suit.
my father and son 'gave me away', so their vest and ties matched. the groomsmen wore another color and the groom wore another color.
basic colors, but different.

all weddings i have been to both fob and fog wore tuxes. i think its up to you colors of vests and ties.

Awesome! Thanks Ladies, I knew I could count on you for all of the little yet important stuff. I'm going to ask my dad to wear a tux and his tie is going to Match my moms dress.
