Re: Father/Daughter dance

i think its about a man falling in love with a woman but the song is great and i already have our first dance song!! i think it might be too much!

Glen Hansard - Falling Slowly Lyrics

I don't know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along

Sorry, please don't take offense...it's JMHO...
I think it's more of a wedding song then a Father/Daughter song. THen again...it all comes down to you and you dad..but it just seems like more of a Bride and Groom song.

I don't think it's that bad, I think you could get away with it. I wish I had my dad here, he passed away in 1997. To be honest with you, if he was here I wouldn't care if we danced to Heavy Metal....as long as we could dance together.

I hope you have a beautiful dance.

It's a beautiful song. So beautiful. But better suited to a couple dance. Bottom line is though, if you want to dance with it with your dad, go for it!!!

if you like it then go for it- most people arent going to be paying attention to the lyrics word for word anyway- they are going to be watching you both happily dance!

too romantic for a father/daughter dance

But then again, it's not really a well known song and the words might not be obvious to others...

If you like it I would go for it. I'm sure people won't really be paying too much attention to the lyrics!

Re: Father/Daughter dance

I think the song is nice, but in my opinion, I wouldn't use it as a father/daughter dance song. Usually I'm all about not scrutinizing the lyrics and saying just go for it. But in this case, I feel it's just not suited for a father/daughter dance. I agree most people won't pay attention to the lyrics while you're dancing, but there's just something with this song that doesn't seem right for the father/daughter dance.

Again, this is just my opinion. Def do what you want and what will make you happy!!! But if you are feeling uncomfortable about using it as a father/daughter dance, maybe try to incorporate it some other way - like during a slideshow presentation (if you're having one), or making it play right after your first dance with FH. So it's like you had 2 first songs.
