Tim McGraw - My Little Girl
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go Gonna tell you how much I love you Though you think you already know I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born
You beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown Sometimes you're asleep I whisper 'I Love You' in the moonlight at your door As I walk away, I hear you say, 'Daddy Love You More'
Your beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl
Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand But I won't say 'yes' to him unless I know, he's the half That makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man I know he'll say that he's in love But between you and me He won't be good enough
Your beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl

Ok, this is a really good one too. I think I may just make a CD of all the ones I like and let my dad pick.

First time around did Daddy's Little Girl...that didn't work out too well. I want to use either this Tim McGraw song or Billy Joel's Lullybye. If my Dad wasn't forced to retire due to an injury on the job, I'm sure I could give him the puppy dog eyes and get him to do the Chicken Dance with me. LOL
The song FMIL has picked out for her dance is so dayammmm depressing........I almost want to find a song to mock her. BTW....what is the order??? Father of the bride or Mother of the Groom first??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? or should I just ask FSIL what HER order is???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I'm outta wine........helppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
I had a very tumultuos childhood and my dad was the only stable thing in my life ever. So its kind of my thank you to him for keeping me alive basically...

Re: Father/Daughter Songs
Tangled Up Puppet, by Harry Chapin I'm a tangled up puppet, Spinning round in knots, And the more I see what I used to be, The less of you I've got.
There was a time that you curled up in my lap; like a child You'd cling to me smiling, yours eyes wide and wild Now you slip through my arms, wave a passing hello Twist away and toss a kiss, laughing as you go
You used to say 'Read me a story and sing me songs of love' For you were Princess Paradise like your wings of a dove Now I chase you and tease you trying to remake you my own But you just turn away and say 'please leave me alone.'
And I'm a tangled up puppet All hanging in your strings I'm a butterfly in a spider's web Fluttering my wings
And the more that I keep dancing And spinning round in knots The more I see what I used to be And the less of you I've got
You are a drawer full of makeup and rinses and things You keep changing your moods like your earrings and rings But tonight while we played tag for five minutes in the yard Just for a moment I caught you off guard But now you write your secret poems In a room just for your dreams You don't find time to talk to me About the things you mean And what I mean is--
I have watched you take shape from a jumble of parts And find the grace and form of a fine work of art Hey, you, my brand new woman, newly come into your own Don't you know that you don't need to grow up all alone

Re: Father/Daughter Songs
Most likely....'Michelle' by the Beatles.
My mom is deceased and my parents named me after this song..so I thought it would be a nice rememberence for my dad, like I was including my mom in our dance.
