Okay... always thought I would do my Christmas ornaments, but now that they're in jeopardy of breaking on me, I don't want to risk it. I already spent the money on the supplies, which I already used all of to make the darn things, so bringing everything back to AC Moore is a big ol' question mark. I was going to tie in a Christmas present charity donation that I do every year into the ornament.
There is a beautiful ornament I could have made for $4.30, which I could do, but if I don't get the $$ back from the other supplies, we're looking at $8+ that I've spent on the Christmas ornament idea so far...
I'm already doing a candy bar, which will cost about $3-$4 per person, in addition to the favor. Plus, each lady at my reception will be receiving a long stemmed rose as they enter the reception.
I COULD pick another favor (not a Chrismas ornament) and get away cheaper if I have to cut my losses on the favors I already bought, but can't use. I would l ike to buy something that would tie into the candy bar... any suggestions? Maybe an ice cream scoop filled with almonds?
This kind of eliminates the Christmas charity donation, which I wanted to do, but I do that on my own each year anyway, so it's not like the charity is suffering.
I really wanted to do a Christmas ornament! But I can't see spending a total of $1500 on favors, including the broken ones!

It sounds like the Christmas ornament thing is the most dear to you. I would do that and maybe cut out the rose and the candy.
I always felt like the favor should reflect something about you... and I LOVE the ornament idea.
no matter what favor you give, people will be most grateful for just being a part of your day.

awww.... you're sweet. And right! I really want to do the candy. I already have the roses in my flower contract - and they're also part of my church decorations. So, my answer may be to just fight my butt off with AC Moore over the poor quality ornaments and get THAT money back!
Thank you!

I'd stick with the original..and just be sure they are safe until the big day. you can't return them anyway as you stated...and i agree with the poster who said maybe eliminate the rose and candy to do new ones if you are truly set on new ones. in the end, you'll find that no matter what you do, there will be roses left, candy bags left and ornaments left behind on tables. it's just part of the territory...so really, i'd spend as little on favors as you can now.

I would stick with the ornaments, you love Christmas and that is a different favor, and people can use it...

for the reception tables... low centerpieces from Flower Michele.
for the cocktail hour, rectangular vases filled with sand and shells, which I've already made or else I'd just use the ornament materials for that instead. Why?

don't regret not doing the ornament, however you are doing alot already. What about cutting the roses of the candy bar. I would LOVE both of those though....I love roses and love candy. I think only you can decide what your budget is. But if you love the ornament. Don't toss the idea. Can you use the supplies for something else?

I'm not sure if it goes with what you all ready have but what if you added branches to the centerpieces? you could hang the ornaments from the branches so you don't have to worry about them getting detroyed/jostled in boxes. You could hang a few candles and the ornaments from the branches...
