Who has done this? I think it's a great idea, but would like to know how to go about doing it? Do we just make a donation before the wedding & get the information & then print something for each guest? How do you find the places to donate to?

Why not donate a charity that's close to your heart? If we were to do this, we'd either donate to the ASPCA or to Breast Cancer Research. Most charities are familiar with the procedure of doing this for the wedding and some even give you little donation cards to leave at your guests' seats. If not, why not come up with a creative way to let the guests know about the donation? I know a 2010 bride thought of making pawprint cookies and tags that let guests know they made a donation to the ASPCA! HTH!

We did this for our wedding. We chose two foundations that have affected us and we donated to them. We donated to the charity prior to the wedding and then had cards made up at each place setting.
I cant remember the wording we used, but when get home I will look at the donation card. HTH

We're doing a donation ... we are either making scrolls with the info, or we're getting these mini-postcard things from moo.com ($20 for 100 of them, and you can print as many diff images on the backs as you want)
the scrolls/cards will say:
In lieu of a traditional wedding favor, we have made a donation to ___ in your honor. ___ is an organization that's very close to our hearts because ___.
(something on those lines, anyhow haha)

Thankfully we dont have any that 'mean' anything to us... I mean, we haven't had anyone leave us due to a terminal illness, but I would still like to donate to one because they can always use whatever money they get to help others and research and I think it is better than spending money on silly favors that people don't even keep... Because what if, one day, we need that foundation or 1 like it.. ya know?
Children are my weakness... so i was thinking the make a wish foundation? Or something with kids?

We did a donation favor- We picked a something that we cared about. Most charitable organizations have something in place for favor donations. We donated to St Jude Children's hospital and they sent us really cute custom bookmark favors...we had a choice of a scroll or bookmark

We also had donations favors. We had scrolls made up by the Hospice Care Network who took amazing care of my Mom during her last months with us. They made beautiful scrolls and the guests thought it was a nice way to remember her. I highly recommend doing it because it is a nice way to celebrate your day with others.
