I am planning to put them on the tables. I think my guests will get the idea if there are 10 people at the table and only 5 favors.(of course if their are singles at the table you'll have more favors). I don't think I've been to a wedding where it was done differently.

Favor Question
I know it might be a little more time consuming, but maybe not so bad with the help of a computer...what about putting little personalized notes on each favor? If you set up a basic note, all you would have to do is change the names for who`s supposed to be attending. I`m thinking something like a little gift tag you`d find on a Christmas gift, those little tags that fold in half. The outside could have the name(s). Inside could just have a simple message saying 'Thank you for sharing in our special day.' The favors could then go straight on the table and that would eliminate any problems of guests figuring who`s with who, especially for those mixed tables where not everyone knows each other. With a small hole puncher, you could pop a hole in a corner and tie it to the favor with some decorative cording or ribbon.
