My wedding is Dec 1st, just at the beginning of the holiday season. I was thinking of doing mini poinsettia's as favors. What do you girls think? One per family or couple.

Re: Favor question...
I think it is a really cute idea.
I really like the pointcetias (Sp?) but they are toxic and if there are kids around or even food maybe hold off till the end of the night that way people don't touch them and then touch the food. Also, pointscetias are pretty tempermental from what I have heard, they die fairly easy. Maybe that much moving around with taking them to the reception, then being moved around at the reception and then people taking them home, plus the climate change they could go into shock and die.
OR
What about little potted evergreen trees. Those could be cute too and they don't have to be decorated like xmas trees or anything. have seen the kind that stay small for a long time in the pot so it's not like they would have to plant it anytime soon (or ever I think depending on what kind you find)
It's a super cute idea though. I love plants.

Re: Favor question...
oooh oooh, I thought of another one.
Maybe, you could find little craft wreaths (like 6 or 8 inches in diameter) at a good price and then buy little wooden letters and spray paint them gold or silver (whatever would go best with your theme) and glue the letters to the wreath for their last name and then each family gets one and it would also double as a place card too.
just a thought.

Cute idea, but I'm not much of a DIY'er....
The flowers wouldn't come out until people were about to leave. I always have poinsettias around my house during the holidays, nobody has even gotten poisoned from them. I do appreciate your concern though, I didn't think of this.

I think poinsettas are a great idea... you can incorporate them as decorations or have them as people are exiting as a little surprise (and free up some table space)
Winter weddings are so great as there are so many options for things like this! They'll be great!

I like it, or the little X-mas tree idea. I also agree, keep away from the food, you could set up a table to place them all on and have your guests tae them as they leave. And a whole table of pointsettias would look really pretty.
