Favor Question

I've been trying to think of favors, I need something nice and not corny or typical. So I was thinking a nice orament but then I realized my wedding is right after the holidays so no one would have a use for it until the following Christmas.

What do you think? Is it too late to give a tree orament?

Re: Favor Question

I think it is. Why don't you do wine or champagne since it is right around the new year

i dont think its too late. If people can make it fit into their winter decor they will definately use it.

ETA i gave ornaments for my eparty favor, and a word of advice, be careful with glass ornaments...I had these really pretty snowflake ones and they were just so fragile about 10 of the broke on the way to our eparty..and they were wrapped in protective padding in a box!!!!

Re: Favor Question

my friends wedding over the summer instead of doing a favor they donated the money to a charitable organization. when i first heard she was doing this i was all, 'how could you not give a wedding favor?' well then i realized that when i look at my apartment all i have are useless wedding/e-party favors. so back to your question i think an ornament may be a good idea. its more practical then just about any favor i have ever received.

i don't think its too late, i think its a very cute idea! People will be packing ther xmas decorations down soon and it will be something to store with the rest of their decorations for next year!

Re: Favor Question

im thinking about giving gourmet chocolate favors (godiva maybe). i have so many favors laying around the house...at least this one serves a purpose and then its gone.

BUT an ornament is a cute idea too, its useful, it has a purpose. as long as ppl have use for it.................my main concern would be whether or not everyone put a tree up on the holidays.

i like candles too.

Re: Favor Question

I know people like to have their guests walking away with a favor, but when you think about it, I'm sure the American Cancer Society (or another worthy charity) could use the $500 favor money more than people could use another candy dish or photo frame. Especially if it is specially dedicated to a deceased relative or someoone with a disability (parent, grandparent, sibling, etc.). If worded correctly it can be really touching...

A friend of mine had her favor donation cards printed on that 'plantable' stationary so it was eco-friendly too!! You just plant it anywhere and a patch of wildflowers grows!!

Anything edible is always nice, but you'll always alienate someone that can't/shouldn't drink alcohol, eat sweets, eat chocolate, etc... (though wine and chocolate are always more than fine by me!!!!)

I dont think its too late! People keep their xmas trees up well after xmas. They can put it on their tree then pack in up for next year again on dec. 8th.

I agree with you. In fact, I dont think any of my friends have given favors, they all make a dontaion. I had thought of the same thing...but hadnt thought about doing it in memory of a family member. Thanks for that suggestion!
