Okay ladies I really need your honest opinion. My wedding is April 5, 2002 and I am starting to get everything together. I unfortunately work by the world trade center and was there during this tragic incedent and my company is sponsoring as well as double matching donations to the relief fund for the victims and there families. I was thinking about making a donation in place of favors and having nice scrolls made up with a little heart pin in the colors of the american flag. Also my brother is in the National Guards and has been there since day one and my fiance works for the Department of Sanitation so I thought being that it has really touched my family and everyone else out there that this would be a nice way to play in the part of helping out. What does everybody think?

I think that it is a very, very nice idea, and one that so many people will understand and relate to. Especially since the clean-up/recovery efforts will likely last months longer, and still be going on when your big day arrives. Go for it, and best of luck!

Thank you very much MiniBride. I hope my guest will feel the same way. It just seems to me that it makes more sense to spend money on such a worthy cause as opposed to an item someone may never even use.

That is a very nice thought I would go with it. Many people chose to donate money instead of giveing a tangible favor. Nice touch.

I am doing the same thing. My wedding is on Labor Day next year, which is both an American holiday (thankfully not a memorial holiday) and will be almost a year from that horrible day. My color scheme will be red, white, and blue, as well. Also, in addition to my donation, I am hoping to make CDs to hand out as favors consisting of patriotic songs.

I love the idea.
The money will help more than people need a candle or frame. I think it has a lot of personal meaning for you and your family. Plus it will help give thanks that you and your family are all okay. Beautiful idea.

Great idea. I know the donation favor has become popular recently and what better cause right now. Regarding your company`s matching gift program though - you might want to find out if they are doing it for a certain time period. My company is doing $5 million in matching gifts related to September 11th, part is in their own fund and part to whichever fund you choose. Once the $5mn has been exhausted, they will not be matching for awhile. If your company has a similar plan, you might want to make that donation earlier than next year to maximize the donation. Best wishes.Welcome New Vendors
