Just thought i'd start a new topic since we're kinda light on the page...
so my sister began looking for her favors for her december wedding and it got me to thinking way ahead for my own wedding..
what do you think is better to go with.. an edible favor or something like a candy dish, S&P shakers, etc...
my mom likes that type of figurine or dish stuff (i guess because shes very traditional italian and i have a figurine or some sort of dish favor from every event LOL) but i think people would get more use out of something that they can eat!!
what do you think? what are you planning on doing (if you have started thinking about this yet!)

as of right now, i think we're going to do a candy buffet and a donation. we're not drinkers and really a big majority of favors have to do with drinking.

FH and I are going to do hockey pucks with our pictures silk screened on them and it will say 'officially wedding puck.....' but i also wanted to do something that was pratical or edible too. so i think im going to order the chinese take out boxes and do a candy bar at the end so everyone can fill the boxes and have something eles to take home too.

I also come from a very large Italian family and probably have to do the traditional favor. I saw an espresso cup with the matching saucer in a heart shaped box that was really cute.

Hopefully I'll think of something useful. I'd like to go a bag with a bagel and jam for the next day! At least it most likely wouldnt go to waste and wouldnt collect dust for 5 years until someone throws it out!

thats a really cute idea!! it would also relieve some of my concerns... another idea we had was for the groomsmen to hold hockey sticks up to make the little tunnel we walk under at the reception when we are called in... i was worried having sticks and then the puck favors that there would be a pick up hockey game going on at the reception lol

just thought of a DIY version the second i walked away from my computer, lol. Get the fudge covered oreos and just pipe the date on some and your initials on the other. Then give everyone a few in a cute little bag as their favor. If you'd end up needing a ton, get your girls to help. You could also look into getting 'stickers' for them, places put pics on cakes using a special printer, edible inks and 'paper', you could see if they could print up a bunch of your monograms!

Out wedding ends at 1:30 AM so I want to see if I can get one of those trucks at our reception (or have our RH) give out to-go coffee and tea with some cookies or a bagel. On the hot cup holder-thingy I'd have our monogram with our name and date, and the cookies would be personalized too.. snack for the road, I say.

i really love the idea of the plantable favors. of course i wouldn't have it as the only one but i do feel it's 'giving back' to the environment lol. i''m not even a 'green' person either but i love the idea.

i saw on a website that you can get 'magic beans' with a word enscribed on them and then when they are planted the word is still on the pod as it grows. it looks really cute cause you could put them in a small watering can or terrecotta pot as the favor. i have to find the site tho, i cant remember which on it was.

I think somthing coffee related. I just want it to be something useful. I too, come from a very Italian family and i want to try to break the almond and worthless statue tradition, lol.
