Do we really need them??? I just recently went to two weddings, one was in the Hamptons she rented a house for the wknd and you know what I spoke to her and she was like did you realize I didn't do favors and I didn't until she brought it up to me.
Then I just went to another wedding and she had a little bottle of wine and coasters they are still sitting on my shelf collecting dust...do you think we really need to do favors??? Or what are your thoughts? Maybe something useful or a donation...I'm confused! I just feel like they are a waste of $$$ here we are providing a party for our guests that costs well over $30,000 I don't know just thinking out loud...

Re: Favors???
Donation all the way!
We are doing it to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and they have a point of contact for wedding favors. She sent me samples of the plate cards that they make for you right away- they have been awesome.
And I think we will donate in December, so it show up on the old tax return for the Honeymoon

Re: Favors???
I have been to a big 60th birthday party of a friend's mom and a wedding of a friend.
I was at a table with like 11 other people at the birthday party and maybe one or TWO of them actually took the favor home! It was cute too, soup bowl & soup spoon set with pretty chopsticks. I felt so bad and I took 4 so they wouldn't go to waste
The wedding gave out wine with personalized labels. Totally cute but again, I saw sooo many people didn't bother to take them
So yeah, I don't know. I'll still do one (I'm pretty set on an edible favor) so if there are favors left over, I'm binging on my honeymoon!

They say $2-$5 per guest.
We will hedge on the low end because I do volunteer work for the organization already!
I am estimating 115 guests, so I will donate about $250-$300 and then asking for extra printouts (like 140 or so) in case a few get wrecked, etc.- and I am still within the $2-$5 range.

Re: Favors???
We're not doing favors, I don't think its necessary, it's a nice gesture if you can afford it. We might do fans for the ceremony or I was thinking to possibly do place cards as something they can take with them..

Re: Favors???
Okay another question??? Is it bad for the donation to be for my brother??? Everyone that is coming to our wedding knows of the tragic accident and I would love to help my brother get his arm more than another organization right now????

Re: Favors???
I'm doing a donation. I gave favors at my e-party and half of the people didn't even take them.

I think that's a great idea about your brother!
Hmm idk.... I actually do think it is nice to give your guests a favor (whether it be a donation or a tangible item).
I'm a big fan of edible favors!

I think I am going to do this...thank you girls for your opinion...I have to talk to FH and see what he thinks...I just know my brother's arm is going to cost so much and we did fundraisers but he still will need a lot more....
