FAVORS & CHARITY DONATIONS
There has been alot of talk about donating money to charity instead of favors so I wanted to give you another idea. Instead of giving $$$ to charity as a favor, how about requesting that your guests make a donation to the charity of your choice in place of a gift. I think this is a great idea if you really want to do something for charity that makes a difference! Afterall, we don`t get married and have a wedding just for the gifts, right?

Right, but...
While you idea is a great one, I think many people basically count on those gifts at helping to offset the expenses of the wedding. We have put off our wedding for a couple of years so we would have more money to afford it, since we are basically paying for everything. Over that time, I can`t tell you how many times I`ve been told, 'Don`t worry about it, if you do it right, you should break even.' Bottom line in terms of donations, better to do something than nothing. Right?

I agree with Kel...
...considering how expensive weddings on LI are, you do count on the wedding money to pay for the wedding, honeymoon, or put towards a house. I think a donation in lieu of favors is good because most people don`t keep the favors that long after the wedding anyway - they become dust-collectors.

Donations
If you ask people to make a donation, then they would feel obligated to give you a gift AND donate to a charity. That may be too much for many people. We donated to a charity in lieu of favors, and many many people came to us during the wedding t say what a wonderful idea it was.

Donations
We have decided to donate money in leui (?) of favors. For us it is a tribute to my uncle, who unfortuantley can't be with us. My cousin also did this and everyone was really impressed. It's a great alternative to trinkets and candy that collect dust.Welcome New Vendors
