FH's parents are throwing us an engagement party, which is in a couple of weeks.
She just mentioned the other day that we'd need favors...I know its bad, but it hadn't even occurred to me until she mentioned it. Anyway, that was the last I've heard of it. I don't know if she's expecting me to take care of them, but I'm pretty tapped out money-wise and honestly don't have the time right now.
My mother things FMIL should be handling this since she's throwing the party. I've already taken care of the invites which were pricey and time consuming.
What do you think? Should I go out looking for favors or hope she'll handle it? Time is running out and I'm not sure how to handle this...
TIA

Re: Favors for E-party - need advice
Before you take up too much time to look into favors have your FH talk to his mom to find out what she's expecting. He can come right out and ask if she planned on getting them or what. If she says she expected the both of you to handle it then have him turn around it around and ask for her advice or suggestions on what to get. He can work in the fact that money is tight. I'm thinking this will prevent any bad feelings with her if he does it that way.

I would give FMIl a call seeing what she was thingking for favors to figure out fi she did or you are supposed to - but they are nit necessary - you could do something simple like chocalte lollipops or save the date magnets

I saw a really cute idea for favors AFTER I already made mine: they were chocolate engagement rings...and the diamond was white chocolate. They were pretty big, too!

I got this coffee packets. Under a $1 each! They say our names on the front.
I would flat out give some ideas to your FMIL and see what she says.
I ordered STD magnets as favors and made chocolate lollipops. They were a hit!

Re: Favors for E-party - need advice
I had lifesavers w/ wrappers I ordered from Ebay for a few bucks. I went to price club and got one box of lifesavers. Went to staples and got a glue stick and a roll of tape and that was it. Maybe $20 for the whole project.
ETA: I actually got the wrappers to match my invites. The person I ordered them from scanned in my invite (a blank one) and did whatever she did from there so they matched.

Re: Favors for E-party - need advice
what type of favors to you think you want for your wedding? maybe start a theme at the engagement party and enhance / elaborate on it with the wedding favors
If you are lookinf for something cheap what would you have in mind?
something else that would bequick and easy is get the small picture frames, like at the dollar store or 2 for 1.00 put a save the date thing in it

Re: Favors for E-party - need advice
I am having an e-party in a few weeks and ordered personalized tic tac labels. I just now need to buy the tic tacs. Very cute and very inexpensive and something I never saw before....

I really don't think they are necessary. But how about hershey kisses or something like that in a little container. I would not make it a big deal...its not the wedding.
