Favors made by special ed. kids??

I saw these really cute 'tools'(coffee scooper, screwdriver, ect) that were called 'cute tools' made by 'art for a cause'. They are tools painted by children with disabilities and a portion of the money goes to the charity. They are also gift wrapped. I wanted to use these for my favors (i am a teacher/fh is an electrician) but they are about $15 a piece. Does anyone know if there is anything similar to this idea but is a little cheaper?? I really want these but cant spend over 1000 on favors! Thanks!

I know this probably sounds worse than I am meaning it to sound, but what if you went to a school where they had special ed children.

My mom's best friend, and a close friend to the family, works as a special ed teacher. She has kids with down syndrome and the like, and maybe if you want, I can ask her if she can have her kids do this for you??? She is totally cool and she loves her kids. I can always ask if you want. Just an idea. I like the thought of also doing the donation.

I work at a program for developmentally disabled adults and one of the projects they've been working on lately is making products like that and selling them in the mall and stuff.

I emailed this post to myself at work so I'm going to ask about it tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks- I think that these favors are such a great idea and they are different from the typical favors;)

i agree -- you could go to a local school and 'buy' them from them for maybe $5 each, and either have the money go to the program, a charity or directly to the kids/adults themselves.

i'm assuming you'd have to do the giftwrapping yourself though

I think it is a great idea. I was thinking of doing something like this. FH's little sister has down's syndrome so it is especially meaningful for us. If I can find anything out from her school, I will let you know.
