FB Ethics Q

FB Ethics Q

We have all been talking about what is proper to post on FB and what is not.

So my Q is: if someone writes a FB email to u where they insult u and give u a completely unsolicited advice, is it ok to post it on ur wall to shame them for insulting u?

Just want to see what ur opinions are

I wouldn't. I'm not a fan of passive-aggressive FB fights. I'd just call the person up and chew their ear off about it, but not make it public.
And maybe show up at their house with a crowbar, hit them in their genitals, and then slash their tires so they can't go to the hospital.
But a FB war, no.

someone wrote something very insulting to my friend, where he insulted her hair color choice and basically told her what she should do with her body. she posted on her wall saying that ppl should really take their nose out of her business so some of her friends defriended her calling her 'shallow'.

hos is she shallow if the guy insulted her looks???

I think she was right to post that

I think people should just resolve their problems without the aide of posting things publicly...it's all just so childish, and things get taken out of context.

I agree. It just creates more drama.

i don't really think it was necessary for other ppl to defriend her. that seems strange to me...

but if i were her, no i probably wouldn't have posted anything on my wall. i probably would have just responded privately by saying, thanks for the unsolicited and rude advice. and then included some critiques of his hair and body.

I agree with that, but in this case it was called for. this wasnt the 1st GUY to write that to her publicly or otherwise.
I just never heard of a girl to post something to a guy about their looks, why is it ok for a guy to do that? IMO they deserve to be shamed in public

ITA. posting it publicly just adds fuel to the fire - and in cases where your friends are attacked on FB, its best to have your friend deal with that poster directly instead of trying to intervene. It just seems to blow up once you do.

I wouldn't. Just email them back in private. It's just asking for drama to post something like that on your wall.

as I said before, generally I agree. but my friend has been on the receiving end of ppl telling her what she can and cannot do with her body and face. enough is enough, and she finally stood up for herself.
so I guess there is an exception to every rule

Just playing devil's advocate here but does she post things about her looks in her status updates? Or was this just a random, mean message?

she changed her hair color recently and posts pix of herself (as we all do). and the entire body of her friends list been commenting pretty much nothing but about this change DEMANDING for her to change her hair color
she has been taking it more or less quietly, but this was just above and beyond that a COMPLETE stranger wrote that to her
