FH is a FDNY firefighter and I'm trying to think of a creative way to integrate something having to do the fire department into the wedding. His job is such a big part of his life and really means alot to him so I think it would be really special to him if it was part of the wedding someohow (Not a huge part. I dont want to have a FDNy themed wedding with firetrucks everywhere. Just a ltitle something) We recently went to one of his friend's wedding. they were getting married at Marina del Ray which is on the water, so his wife got the FDNY recue boats to pull up and do a water display while everyone went out to watch. It was great and I could tell FH really liked it. Anyone else marrying a firefighter? Any suggestions?

i would say either a fire truck grooms cake or see if you can have the fire truck go to the RH for pictures. my friend did that.

i was just going to say that.
i went to a wedding years ago and they had the locals come with the tuck and engine.
it was great for pics

I wish the truck could come for pics... the only problem io that his Firehouse is in Brooklyn... We are getting married in the Bronx and our RH is in Queens.... so his firetruck wouldn't be able to come.... And this may be a dumb question but what's a groom's cake and where do you get one?

two of my friends married firemen.. one of them her wedding was in February 2 or 3 years ago and we had a huge snow fall (that day only) and HE called his friends to let them know the wedding was still on, but most had to be on call... so we're all in the church and when we walked out, his mates had cleared the steps to the church and attempted to clear off most of the cars. It was so nice. Granted... they did that on their own.
My other friend down in NC had her hubbys truck go to their hotel (they were married outside and had the reception inside) the bridal party took pictures on the truck and because he had forgotten his hat, their neighbor brought hers.
But I would suggest having a groomscake made for him.
*If you know of anyone he's saved or helped.. get in touch with them and invite them to the church. I love that idea, my parents friends who have been married 20+ years.. the wife set that up at their wedding.. he still gets teary eyed talking about it.
now you said your FH liked the water display? why not do that?

You could also consider a donation to one of the FDNY's charities in lieu of a favor, or in addition to a favor.

you can have the local dept. come. they will do anything for their brothers. my ex is a fireman and he was in the wedding party i went to years ago. they had no problem doing it. at least thats what i was told.
