What did you do with the firehouse on the guest list? FH has a handful of guys he really wants to invite and some he doesnt want at wedding at all. With his 'all or nothing' rule thats like 60 more people on our guestlist but at same time i dont want him to not have his his friends there I say he really can just invite the 8 or so guys he wants...

My fiance isnt an FDNY firefighter but he is the captain of a volunteer fire company and has a career as a police officer. If we invited everyone it would be CRAZY! (something like 100 or more between the two!)
Instead we decided that for the fire dept., the officers would be invited for sure with a guest. As for the rest of the FD, his closer friends will be invited (a few on in the wedding party) and the remaining of the guys (most are already married and understand the ins and outs of weddings) were pretty understanding and said they weren't offended if they weren't invited. Plus we are having our engagement party at the FD so they will all be there to celebrate.
As for the PD, we are inviting the higher ranked officers with a guest and the guys he works the closest with day in and day out. (The force is big and he doesn't have contact with everyone.)
This may change since our wedding is still a ways away but this is what we are thinking right now.
FH has a friend who got married about 7 or 8 years ago, her husband was kind of in the same boat and he spoke to the guys and said they could all come if one guy brought another guy as their date. FH went to the wedding and he brought one of the other guys as his date. This was probaly about 2 years before him and I started dating and all the guys were younger so no one else was married at that point.
