Fear of Committment?

Fear of Committment?

And I'm not talking about with my man.. Love him and am 100% positive on marrying him. I'm talking about booking a reception hall! Anyone else have this issue? We've been looking and looking and finally found one with a great price that we both love but I still can't help thinking what if there's something else, something I might have overlooked or should go back and revisit?! I've kept putting off booking the place we like but I guess if I want to have a wedding I need to do it.. Did anyone else have this problem or am I crazy?!

You're not crazy! lol...I went thru the exact same thing. I started second guessing myself about everything. Then I wrote out all the pros and cons of our top 4 and still came back to the same venue. We visited a few more places and decided our original top 1 was best for us. Remember, theres only so many places you can visit before you start forgetting what you liked/disliked about others, everything starts to look the same lol.

Have to tell you, in my experience, this means you haven't found it yet. Your feelings describe me to a T when trying to chose my RH and, even more so, my dress. Both times I listened to my gut and kept looking, and thank god I did, because then I found the PERFECT venue and the PERFECT dress. Keep looking!

I had that problem because every place was just like a typical wedding hall... i didn't want a 'wedding factory' for my wedding, and decided to take a break from looking for a few weeks to get my thoughts together..my mom suggested we look at the milleridge cottage before I stop looking...i really didn't want to look there because I was confusing it with the Inn, but it was exactly what i was looking for. Nothing about it reminds me of a typical LI wedding, but the food is phenomenal, the dance floor is huge, and it's only one wedding at a time which were my three big things..You may be having a fear of commitment because all of the places around here are so much alike and maybe you just need to see something different.. definitely check out their site: http://milleridge.com/the-cottage-at-milleridge/ and take a look over there :)

good luck! You'll know which place you want when you walk into it

your not crazy!!!! you just need to go with what you BOTH love. if you both love it and can afford it- book it, if you don't you may miss the opportunity!!! your gut is always right! :)

I feel that way about dresses. I found one and said yes to the dress. Didn't put $$ down yet though. I'm afraid I might regret or keep thinking what if there's something better that I might like. It's so annoying!

When I walked into my venue I got the feeling that I knew it's what I wanted. I could almost picture the actual wedding day, but the next day when we went back to book I was still so nervous to commit. I knew we were making the right decision but always get scared of big steps. If you got the dream feeling when you walked into your place I think you should go with it. If not wait, ultimately go with your heart and where you can see yourself that day

I totally understand! I am the exact same way, I've been talking about my venue for so long, I'm excited about it, love it Wer both do...but it's not a common place brides use. so I'm scared to commit, what if everything tastes bad or they have bad service maybe that's why it's not such a common place! I can never make up my mind in one shot, I have had like 4 meetings with my hall already, and we are still not booked officially!
I have food tasting tonight I'm so nervous!!!! what place did u find?

Thanks ladies.. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.. I've gone to see it three times so far and whenever I am there I get very happy and feel very comfortable. There's no other place I've visited this much and I want to keep going back! It fits all the criteria I was looking for and it makes me even happier my boy likes it. We're supposed to go back again this Sunday so maybe that will be the day we finally book!

I felt the same way when I booked. I kept thinking what if I saw something I liked more. FH gave me some really good advice about this, he told me that if I liked a place I needed to just stop looking, there will always be other places to look at and things to second guess and I would just drive myself crazy. After that conversation we booked and I couldn't be happier. I've tried to use that philosophy throughout the rest of my planning and I feel good about all the decisions I've made.

I don't think it's necessarily the venue I'm second guessing.. I think it's more do I really want to spend all this money?! And thats why I am so hesitant.. But it's definitely a once in a lifetime event and my FH and I have been through alot so I am looking forward to celebrating our love and the official start of our lives together regardless of the venue we chose :)

I disagree. I am the same way as you describe,
I second guess everything and i'm a huge pessimist, I always think something is going to go wrong. I worry over everything.

When I visited my hall I cried because I didn't want to leave without booking,, so I knew it was the one.

I tried on a ton of dresses and never thought i'd find the one, but when I put mine on, I knew it.

It is a lot of money, but when you see that ballroom all lit up and set up with everything you worked so hard on, it's so worth it!!

you are not crazy. I second guessed every single aspect of our wedding besides the hall for the past year. I actually went to every single hall on long island just so I would never wonder lol. I'm crazy though

I'd go back to revisit it. if you are still in love than go with it.

I think you have your answer. If you have gone back 3x. If it makes you feel better pick your top 4 and look at the pros & cons.

I second guessed everything for my wedding and everything worked out for the most part. Go with your gut!

One piece of advice, if you find something you love go for it and stop looking elsewhere. You will drive yourself insane! LOL HTH!
