Fear of Flying?

Fear of Flying?

So, I'm just about ready to book my Honeymoon (very late, I know) and the only thing that is preventing me from pulling the trigger is my insane fear of flying. Any tips for how to cope with this? TIA

lots of drinks! lol jk.
I used to be taht way as well and then i had a job for about 2 years where it required me to travel alot.. go figure... but then i pretty much get used to it after a while.

just know that the percentages of anything happening are really small and you can squeeze onto your FH's hand for dear life for support!

have fun booking your HM and congrats :)

I am deathly afraid of flying, but its not going to stop me from going on my HM. I plan on going to the dr before and ask for a script for some kind of sedative

do not worry, you'll knock out. Well it depends. We had out wedding 6/21 I woke up at 8 a.m. the reception finished at 1 a.m. and we had to be in the airport by 3 a.m. and the flight left by 9 a.m. I slept the whole flight Now if you wait 1 or 2 days before you leave them I would recommend not sleeping (I know bad advice), or drink some over the counter medicine to knock you out. I am sorry for being too crazy but I hate flying.

Klonopin . Definitely drug yourself an hour before flight so you do not have a panic attack

I had a fear of flying, still pretty uneasy about it now, but I had to go to Spain a few weeks for work and we had to take 5 flights!!! I had to get over that fear really quick. Before Spain, I hadn't flown in over 5 years. I think you just gotta do it. Get on that plane and deal! Think about where you are going. And hold DH's hand when you get nervous. I didnt have FH when I flew to Spain, but I managed just fine.

Also, someone once said to me, whenever they get scared of flying they think of the flight attendants, they fly EVERY day and they are fine. Whenever I got scared of take off, landing, or turbulance, I looked at the FAs to see if they were scared, they never once looked scared, so I knew everything was okay. Good luck!

We are both afraid of flying. Our flight home last year on ourhoneymoon was on Sept 11th! I actually didnt even realize until after I booked it. I just do it. We are going to the FLorida keys in a few months and I really really dont feel like doing the long drive again haha

I'm really afraid of this too...I've never flown before, and I feel like I've almost gone to the point of no return. Especially after 9/11, I just do not want to fly. If I could just I Dream of Jeannie myself over to Greece, that'd be great, but since I don't think I'm going to develop that ability any time soon I'll probably ask my dr. for something so I don't flip.

Xanax--- but don't mix with alcohol! Ever watched that Southwest show they boot you from those flights for the slightest thing!

I was the same way I freak out! I just didn't sleep the night before so I can on the plane, which didn't happen so I would say take some pills!!! My DH flys a lot for his job he fell asleep before lift off I was elbowing him to wake up!!!

I medicate.

I fly alot for work but most of my flights are under an hour. If its 1+ hours, valium or xanax are your friends :)

Take something like Benadryl to help just relax and fall asleep on the plane The dr I work for recommends doing this and for the really really afraid people he'll give them a few like Lexapro (mood supressors) just to get there & home.

I dislike flying also!

i also have the BIGGEST fear of flying (with good reasons throughout the years) and i too am always nervous and it kind of is taking away from the excitement of my HM- it shouldn't but it's something I am veryy anxiety ridden about. Needless to say, I will def. be going to my doctor and getting something for it so if something does happen- i'll be laughing/sleeping on my way down!
