I have had it. I want to cancel the whole big fancy smancy wedding and just go get eloped!!! I am sick of other peoples opinions (i.e. FMIL, etc.) I am sick of trying to appease (SP?) everyone. What kids are coming, What kids are invited? Is someone going to flip out if I say No kids and I have two 11 yr. olds in my bridal party!!
Last time I checked it was Heather and Mike's wedding, Not everyone else's !!!!!!!!!!

I agree it is Heather and Mike's wedding.
If you dont want kids running around the hall then say no kids. I had to call a cousin who added her teenage daughter's name to the reply card and say no kids. After the envelope was addressed MR. & Mrs. which indicates not the >>>>> Family, its just the huby and wife.

I feel exactly the same way! I keep telling FI that I want to elope. We have 2 weeks to go and FMIL is still changing the guest list. His side of the family keeps changing their mind about coming to the wedding! I am so fed up. My new answer to everything is: Because I'm the bride and I want it this way. I know It sounds terrible but the only to get the point across sometimes is to be blunt!

Girl, I was in the same boat with the kid situation. Finally the bridezilla came out in me and I told EVERYONE with the exception of the 2 ringbearers (both 5) and the jr BM & GM (twins 10) there are no kids allowed and that's that. If you have a problem with it then have your own wedding and invite all the kids you want!!!!
I stray here, but the point is this YOUR WEDDING. You call the shots!!!!

I've embraced my inner bridezilla and just started telling people no.
No, mom, you can't invite my 3rd cousin twice removed that I haven't seen since I was 2 because the invites are already done!!
No, FMIL, you can't wear a beige dress - it's too close to the color I'm wearing!!
No, FH, you can't play on the computer when there is less than 3 months left to get everything done and I'm stressing alone.
No, friends, you can't bring your baby to the wedding thinking no one will notice if only one baby is there.
I find my new attitude strangely soothing.

That reminded me there will be an infant there. Oh FMIL is going to love that.
I told her that her niece's two kids caould not come, But I forgot to mention th eexceptions.
Hopefully My adult reception will deter the baby from coming.

Don't get me wrong I want the big wedding and the first dance and all that goes along with it. I am just sick of the 'Well what color dress can I waer?' Due to the fact that My mom, his mom , and his stepmom all have to wear different colors!!!!!

Yup- sometimes you just have to tell them to bug off- it's your and your FH's day. I also kept telling my friend who got married last year (I was her BM) 'Eyes on the prize - you get to marry Jason!' She said that was strangely comforting in the face of her crazy family's attention to the details that just did NOT matter.

you just have to try and take all those opnions with a grain of salt and just stay firm and do what you and your fh want. i feel your pain i put my foot down and didnt invite children. my sister was furious because my 2 year old nephew couldnt come but i stayed firm in the end my cousin brought her kid anyway but i just ignored them. my sister was happy she didnt have to run after a child all night and was actually grateful.
