For our vendors that are actually at the reception with us , ie: photog, video, dj... are we supposed to tip them & provide them with a meal? or it is either or? I noticed on another thread a few girls were recommending $100 tips but I would think that if we were tipping & paying for a mean, that $50 each would be enough for a tip??
What does everyone think? (gosh it's the little things that stress me out ) lol...

Re: Feeding Vendors & Tipping???
Thats a good point, which i never even thought of. I just assumed we HAD to feed them and HAD to tip them ($100) ... I know my Venue gives a discount for vendors that are on their 'referred list'...see if your hall offers any kind of discount for vendors, some do.

you feed them and you tip them. You don't have to tip them if they suck or your not happy with their services and remember you don't tip a owner of a company so if they are there working your wedding you don't tip them but if they are a worker they are typically not making a ton of money and need a tip.

my DJ is the owner of the company (he has other dj's & mc's but we requested him), but on the contract it says tipping is recommended...shouldn't I still tip him?

yes, you should.
And to the OP, tipping and providing them with a meal while they're working are completely separate from one another. Yes, you provide them with a vendor meal and yes you tip them, and the tip should not reflect the fact that you fed them as well. You tip them as a sign of appreciation, the $$ amount should not be lessened because you also fed them. Feeding them is necessary as they're working the entire wedding and in you photog's case, the entire day for you. To not feed them would be cruel.

Re: Feeding Vendors & Tipping???
Why would you not tip the owner if he/she is the person providing the service on the actual day?
The tip is for services provided.
The meal is because they are working ALL day!

I tipped our Dj who was the owner because he went beyond his typical job but if you read around it says you don't need to tip the owner since they are making most of the cash.

I was thinking of the $100- I forgoot about feeding them. I will have to see if they want to eat a meal or at cocktail hour.

Your DJs will be setting up during CH so they can't eat and your photogs and video will be taking pictures.

both... and don't forget to ask your RH about the price to feed your vendors... it should be significantly cheaper!

Re: Feeding Vendors & Tipping???
My DJs get there about 3 hours before the ceremony even starts to set up....also FH and I are taking pictures before the ceremony so there is plenty of time for everyone to enjoy cocktail hour.

Re: Feeding Vendors & Tipping???
Usually the in house vendors of the RH eat free or its half price. Any other vendors are usually half price. Thats what I was told. Tip on how you feel they did.$50-$100 would sound good, especially if they have more then one person with them. Hth

Re: Feeding Vendors & Tipping???
some vendors have told me not to feed them. for instance...one band told me there is no need. they are there for 4 hrs to perform. i actually totally agree. i understand feeding the photographer that is there for you ALL day...but feeding someone for 4 hrs doesnt make that much sense. I hate to sound insensitive, but it's 4 hrs...they easily could eat before they get there.
