Feeding your photographer & DJ

Feeding your photographer & DJ

Just wondering how this is worked out. Other vendors you hire to work your wedding..ie photographers, their assistants, and DJs/MCs,...I know I have to feed them, but are they included in your final count?

For ex: if the venue charges $90/plate, and I am having 2 photographers and the DJ is bringing 4 people, which amounts to 6 people, would I still have to pay $90/plate for them or is there a discount since they will not be served and treated like the other guests & because they will be working for most of the wedding?

I don't want to sound cheap but we are on a tight budget & paying for the entire thing ourselves and trying to keep the guest list down to 80-85!!! 6 extra people is a lot for us.

Thanks!

it definitely depends on your hall. some halls won't charge you if you use their vendors. some will charge half or a quarter. some will charge half if you use outside vendors or full if you use outside vendors, etc etc etc.

i have not visited any hall that included them in your final headcount. usually they are not part of that number.

the answer is: it depends on your hall how they are charged. but regardless, they do have to be fed.

At my hall we had a minimum of 110 we are paying for 110 no matter who shows. After I reach the min. I get discounts on vendors.

oops, I forgot to mention....do halls usually give discounts for vendors?

I can't see them charging full price because like I said, they won't be treated like a normal guest.

I was just thinking, I wish my employer paid for my dinner everynight!!

It has also been brought up to check with your vendors to see if they actually want a dinner. Otherwise, you may not need to pay for them as they will eat the majority of food during the cocktail hour. The DJ I recently interviewed said that he doesn't want dinner. He will be eating during the cocktail hour, so check with your vendors first.

The DJ that is bringing 3 other people has in the contract that a meal is to be provided.

For the photographer, I am not sure but I want to provide food for them since we have them for 10hrs.

usually free if you use one of their recommended vendors or half price if you use an outside vendor.

Usually, halls will give a discount on vendors -- some are half price, some 2/3 price, some just $20 off or whatever. (most seem to be half price) Since you get a discount, most halls will not count the vendors toward your minimum.

You always have to check with the hall, though!

My hall charges half price for vendors. We were told every two vendors could count as 1 toward our minimum.

My hall is free to feed house vendors and half price to feed any other vendors

Re: Feeding your photographer & DJ

For what I have seen from different catering halls, once you meet your minimum, the vendors are 1/2 price. So if your minimum is 100 people and you have met that minimum, then your vendors meals would be 1/2 price. If you did not meet your minimum, then the vendors just count as guests towards reaching your minimum and they would be full price. HTH

I know for sure my rh said if i used the in house vendors they will be free, all others are 1/2 (i think). anyway in house are usually discounted.

My hall told me that it's 50% off the plate if we use in-house vendors, which of course, we're not so we have to pay full price. But I am only feeding my photographer and my videographer because they will be with us for 10 hours, (videographer 8 and 1/2 hours) so they obviously need to eat, but we are not feeding the DJ because he is only working for 4 hours, I dont think they need to be fed a meal if they are only working for 4 hours so it's only 2 extra plates that we are paying for.

the vendors must be fed.
its only right.
no theyre no included in ur final count, b/c most places give u a discount on the vendors. i know villa lombardi's said that if we use one of their vendors, its 3/4 off the price pp (i think) and if we use our own vendor, its 1/4 off pp.

talk to ur RH. every RH has different prices. . . .

i agree with the others---talk to your hall

ours has it that once the guarantee is met, all vendors and children under 12 are discounted.

My RH said that the Vendors are included in our Minimum.

They were included in our final count, but that is because we didn't make our minimum. If we had met our minimum, they would have been half off.
