Feelin' A Little Bridezilla - LONNNG Rant.

Feelin' A Little Bridezilla - LONNNG Rant.

was very close to a group of girls in college. We actually all met while we were out at a club and then moved into an off campus house together. 9 girls, one 4 bedroom house... YIKES! But we stayed relatively close throughout the years.

I told my friend 'Amy' that I was getting married and she immediately started talking about showers and batchelorette parties and bridesmaid dresses. I told her I was not having a bridal party... and to say she was disappointed would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.

I explained that I just envisioned a very small wedding party. I told her that the wedding itself is going to be very intimate and that just being invited means she is someone very dear and special to me.

So anyway. She is now getting married. First of all, she and her fi have been engaged for LITERALLY 10 years. She has NEVER WANTED TO GET MARRIED. She used to say all the time that she prefers not to be married and that the engagement is basically to appease her family. So now that she is having the wedding of the century, she has asked 7 of our housemates to participate in her wedding (guess which one is not participating?). That's no problem - EXCEPT - I start getting calls from my other housemates to let me know that 'amy' will be getting married on 5/5/07. That's my birthday. And my wedding date. She knows this. The girls are all pretty upset and are going back and forth trying to get one of us to change the date.

I have had to change the date a few times already and I do NOT want to change it again. I booked the hall and I am really looking forward to getting married on my birthday. I already have my Save The Dates ordered and will be sending them next week. She has done NOTHING except tell people that is her intended date - and has started to look at venues for her event.

She sent me an 'e-vite' telling me to save the date for her wedding on May 5th. I - of course - responded 'no'.

It makes me sad that she is not going to be at my wedding and that I can't be at hers. It makes me sad that she is strong arming our mutual friends into choosing between us. One of our housemates told her she couldn't be in the wedding because she didn't feel it was right since I had told everyone about my wedding first. 'Amy' flipped her lid over that and has refused to talk to her since.

It makes me sad that my 'friend' would be this upset about not being in a bridal party that I am not even having. In fact.. this is one of the reasons I am NOT having a bridal party. I wanted to avoid hurt feelings from whomever would not be included. And honestly I would NOT have included her anyway. Only because I have 2 sisters, 2 SIL's and several friends that I have been friends with since I was small and who I still hang out with every weekend.

I tried calling her.. but she doesn't answer. I am pretty upset.

Anyway... thanks for listening.

OMG.....that's horrible... I don't understand why a 'friend' would ever think that it's ok to pick the same day for any event especially one as big as a wedding....there are 365 days in a yr for god's sake! well maybe you should leave a message on her voicemail-s that states how hurt/dissappointed you are....sorry to hear this

That is very very spiteful, to put you and ALL of your mutual friends in an awkward situation just because she is mad at you. I would at least let her know it's not cool to do this to your friends, and this way she might listen. But I'm not sure I'd want someone like this at my wedding anyways. So if she's not willing to listen, I would keep the date, and just enjoy anyone who does come to your wedding. I wouldn't hold it against your other friends, becasue they have been placed in a very wierd situation. I hope everything works out.

OMG!!! Seriously, WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE????

Is she INSANE???? Why would she do this??? IMO... she's being spiteful and evil and if she has the audacity to do something like this to you... even if she chages the date... the initial situation was to intentionally hurt you... then I would be done with this girl as of today!!

DO NOT change your date!!! DO NOT appease this horrible person!!!

Just remember one thing - KHARMA!!!!!

Wow! I know she's your 'friend' but what a jerk! She's acting very childish and she's going to end up having none of your 7 other housemates at her wedding if she's going to behave like that. That is unbelievably unfair to do that to you guys. Maybe she'll change her mind and have it on a different day...hopefully!

I agree. Focus on your beautiful wedding and all of your plans. She isn't worth the energy. You put your best foot forward when you tried to call her, and even then she didn't respond. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, but at least now you know who your real friends are.

i'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. hopefullly since you have all your stuff together already and everything you are doing is formalized (vs word of mouth), such as your STDs, then you'll get first dibs on who will be attending your wedding.

maybe she'll come around and realize she's acting very immature and selfish.

I don't think you're being bridezilla. I think what she did was really spiteful. You explained to her how you were having a small intimate wedding, a real friend would have been supportive. Please don't change your date, the people you would really want there WILL be there!

that is just insane! For her to do that bc shes upset you arent having her in a BP that doesnt even exsist?! Wow...im soo sorry!!
Now i can see her getting evil and doing this if you asked all 7 and left her out or planned to do that. But you arent! So for her to stoop to that level is just beyond me. What do the other girls say? Have they all said yes? its nice that the 1 girl said no b/c she knew it was your wedding as well!

Well now you know who your true friends are....

You are not a Bridezilla for feeling hurt. If you had not tried to contact her, and she did not try to return your calls, I'd say that she might not be doing this TO you. Maybe it's cheaper in May and the other days are booked up. But if she's not returning your attempts at contacting her, it sounds like she may be relishing in this.

But think of it this way; her wedding day is about wasted, lame emotions like envy and revenge and jealousy. What is your day about? Marrying the love of your life and celebrating your birthday and Cinco de Mayo all at the same time!

Do you want a vindictive person like this at your wedding? She's putting your other friends in the middle of this and on the spot, and if I was one of your friends, I would resent her for that. But it's not up to you to force them to say something to her.

Since there's nothing more you can (or probably should) do about this, I'd just be thankful for the friend who you know is coming to yours and write the other bride off - because that's no friend.

Don't let her ruin this for you - it will be fine and you'll have a lot more people who love you around to help you celebrate your big day.

That is so awful! I am so sorry.

I would try to contact her again. Explain to her again (because she obviously doesn't understand) why you aren't having a bridal party. I would also tell her all that you have already done for your wedding and that, as a friend, you would have liked to attend her wedding, but that she is making it impossible. You did choose the date first and as some girls already said, there are 365 days in a year! She could do it another time!! Good Luck!

Oh and by the way, TOTALLY not a bridezilla moment- it is perfectly 'normal' and right to feel this way!!!!!

So, so , so NOT Bridezilla! Seriously, this is one of the most awful things I've ever heard. People say weddings can bring out the worst in people, but this is out and out spite, for no reason. In no way should you be apologizing for not having a BP, (For many of the same reasons, I'm not having one either). How long have you all been out of college? Unfortunately, this may be the point that you have to cut ties with her. I hope your other friends honor your save the date, since you clearly have been planning your wedding longer. I think I would very seriously consider ending this 'friendship'. Sometimes, people are important at different times in our lives, and then figure less prominently at other points. One would just hope that they'd exit a little more gracefully than this one is doing. So sorry for you. Hang in there, and enjoy your wedding.

Friends don't do that to friends. You know what you don't need that type of person in your life. You are far from being a Bridazilla!!!!!! She is not worth getting upset over. She is still a child who need to grow up and stop all the childish games!!!!!! Keep your wedding date and Enjoy YOUR Day!!!!!!
