It seems like nothing I am planning works out the way it was intended. I am so frustrated and tired and I'm ready to call the whole thing off. FH doesn't seem to care, and we have no money. I have all these ideas that I think are so cool and unique and when I mention them, someone always shoots me down. I am sick (literally) and tired (literally) of caring when noone else does!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
Awww honey. I think everyone feels that way sometimes. And sometimes I think planning a wedding is like a big competition.
My advice would be to take the weekend off from planning and just go back to doing fun things with FI that aren't wedding related. Then start again on Monday with a clear head.

'It's the finest fruits the birds always pick at.' (or something like that....it's written on a card i have at home.)
don't let people get to you. FH hated the CDs i made until he saw them and he hated 'long ties' with tuxes until he saw them. he even hated our invites until he saw them!

What do you mean? Who is putting you down? I hope nobody here.
Maybe you can post you 'want-to-do' projects and girls can help you by telling where to buy, cheapest, etc...
Don't be discouraged!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
Don't worry Every bride feels like no one cares at some point. And it's true, you do see people's true colors when wedding planning. But I'm sure your FH cares about the wedding. He may just not care about the little details. That is why you have us!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
I know exaclty how you feel. My mother shoots down every idea I have and is so negative. I've just begin to look at places and she doesn't even want to hear about it. When I asked her if she wants to go look at a place with me she says no. SHe says i shouldnt get married in May, I should get married in September so we have more time to save. However there are 6 bdays in september between the two families. That is just too much. This is my mother and i want her to be involved in the wedding with me. Its just so frustrating that whenever i mention something she hates the ideas. I take everything to heart, and it like i have to plan my wedding the way she would. Then she wonder why I can't wait to move out of the house...lol

Oh no! Don't feel bad. Honestly, I have been feeling the same way. No one in my bridal party lives around here other than my 13 yr old sister, so it has been tough.. Do what makes YOU happy!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
I think in general no one is going to care more about your Wedding Day than you are. I'm sure your FH cares about the Wedding, but probably just doesn't know too much about the planning to understand your frustrations. As far as the whole 'shooting down your ideas' I say do what makes YOU HAPPY. You're not going to please everyone. Everyone has an opinion and although it might not be what you want to hear, in the end YOU'RE the one that has to be HAPPY with it. Good luck!!!!

Awwww turn that frown upside down! Everyone feels that way at times, but it's YOUR DAY and you have to keep that in mind. Don't let others discourage your ideas, not everyone has the same taste and ideas, that's what makes us different.

Re: Feeling discouraged...
It sounds like you need to take some time off from the wedding planning. I took a month off a little while ago and things have been much better since!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
First off, breathe.
Second, who is shooting down your ideas? If it is anyone other than FH, ignore them. It isn't their wedding, it's yours (and FHs of course), so their opinion doesn't count/matter in the grand scheme of things.
Third, I'm sure your FH cares, just in a 'guy' way. Yes, there are some guys who are groomzilla, but the vast majority just want to be told when and where to show up. It doesn't mean he doesn't care, it just means that wedding plan still is mostly a girl thing.
Finally, no one will care about your wedding the way you do, not your mom, your MOH, your sister, your best friend etc. Why? Because it isn't their day, it's yours. If you stop caring about it, you will regret it when the day rolls around and you don't have that 'thing' you wanted because you let someone talk you out of it.
My family doesn't give a hoot about my wedding plans. My mother dropped out of the entire planning process last August. My MOH/sister is very happy being a brand new mommy and doesn't have time for dress shopping. What this all means to me - my invites don't list my mom as host, in fact her name isn't anywhere on them, my MOH/sister is wearing what I picked out, not whatever she wants, I have a reception hall that is perfect for me (and not the place my mother said I was having the wedding at when she saw it), I am having my ceremony someplace I want to have it, rather than what is convenient for the family etc. I get to do everything MY way!! And that is a good thing!

Re: Feeling discouraged...
Stop telling people that are not supportive your ideas your suggestions. Do what you want. Remeber like many have said - it is your day and you can do whatever you want. Don't worry what other people think.

Re: Feeling discouraged...
Here are some hugs for you. I know how you feel, we all do at some point. My mother hates my honeymoon registry idea, says it's like begging. Do I care? NOT ANYMORE. You have to do what makes you happy. Your FH will appreciate everything you do in the end, or should I say beginning!!!! Smile

Re: Feeling discouraged...
I've felt like that so many times during my year and a half of planning.
In the end, you just need to do what will make you happy and what you can afford. Don't worry about what others think or expect...It's YOUR wedding!
My sister did her wedding exactly how she wanted it. She took some flak for things from others (mostly our mom) during the planning, but in the end, it was an awesome, touching and personal day.
Everyone is always going to have an opinion...It's become my policy to just not ask opinions about things I want (except my FH, of course).

Don't loose sight of why you are getting married! ALWAYS KEEP THAT IN MIND. dO WHAT EVER MAKES YOU HAPPY AND WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS THINK. dON'T GIVE AWAY ALL YOUR IDEAS AND LET THEM BE SURPRISED! iT WILL WORK OUT.
