I am in the same boat this week. I was starting to get really excited about how my clothes were fitting but today I am so bloated and I feel gross and disgusting!

Re: Feeling discouraged..
I had gained 2.5 lbs in 3 days due to my period even though I was doing sooo good on my diet! I wound up using it as an excuse to cheat this week because at least let me ENJOY my weight gain! That is sooo the wrong approach by the way! Don't get discouraged! It will come back off in a few days!!

Re: Feeling discouraged..
Honestly if you are not worried about the weight and looking more for the muscular look then stop weighing yourself and either go my how clothes fit or measure yourself. THe scale can be a very dangerous thing and can make you fell discouraged. I am heavier now than I was moths ago but I am in my skinny jeans and they are starting to get big and because I changed my workout and am changing the way my body looks. Throw the scale away.

i dont live by the scale or anythign but im working with a trainer who wants me to track my progress and consequently one method of tracking is using the scale...hence my feeling discouraged lol

I think then you need to talk to your trainer because since you are at a low weight to begin with and all you are trying to do is add muscle the scale shouldnt be the tracking device. Maybe more of measurements and a body fat analysis. I have worked with a few different trainers and nutritionists in the past and all have told me you can live and die by the scale....it not a full picture. Just dont make yourself feel bad over a #
I think the scale is hurting you and thats why I say switch it up.....Im sure you are seeing progress and one number can kill you mentally I know Ive been there.

ITA! Lauren, you have a great body! You are sooooo tiny missy!!!!!!!
And I ALWAYS pack on the pounds during my period. I always think to myself... ewww I cant believe how much weight I just gained... and my clothes are tighter during my period so I know its always just from that. Once its over my clothes fit better again.

Re: Feeling discouraged..
Lauren, you know how i feel about htings like this. I decided the week before my period I will not weigh myself... it helps my mental state.
I feel the same though. Today I woke up with cramps and I really didnt feel like going to the gym and feeling even more grose and running...So, I ate an apple
We should have done window shopping today... at least we would have gotten some exercise in and maybe not felt that bad. Sorry I didn't think of it :(
If you need to complain you know where I am! I Have my phone!

Jeez is this the story of my life. I hate the scale!!! I go down 2 pounds then I go right back up. I have been dealing with this for months now. I am seriously going to resort to eating salad and chicken for dinner. I dont know what else to do.
But Lauren I would totally chalk your gain up to your period and not think about it until after your period. I am sure that the scale will go down again. You are doing great!!! HTH!!

I know that it can be discouraging Sometimes it feels like you're going backwards. But you're making strides and you look GREAT! An off day here and there never hurt anyone. It's such a struggle with women - men just don't care about that stuff
