feeling down.....moms vs. daughters?????

has anyone found their moms getting emotional as the wedding gets closer???(or yourselves for that matter???) i still live with my mom & we've always had a really close relationship(of course with the typical mother/daughter fights but for the most part a great relationship - she's my best friend)...anyways, the wedding is less than a week away and i feel like everyday we fight about something. Tonight we got in LITERALLY the MOST STUPID argument.....EVER. so stupid i dont even know why it ended up the way it did(and it wasnt even 'wedding' related) - so now she's been in her room for the past 2 hours with the door shut, while i pack up my room by myself (which she wanted to help me with & spend some time with me). And to make me feel even more terrible, she just walked out & she's still crying her eyes out. I dont know...i guess i'm just venting - it's just that i LOVE my mom and i'm going to miss the hell out of her... i just feel like lately she takes everything so personal. I mean, today we just got back from being away for thanksgiving....i'm exhausted(i'm sure she is too), my back hurts and i'm just a little overwhelmed with things i have to do so I dont think either of us are in the greatest of moods.... and i'm not being stubborn when i say I REALLY DID NOTHING WRONG!!!!! A lot of people are telling me its just because the weddings getting closer and she's probably got a lot of emotions going on(as do I).... but i feel terrible. I want these last few days with her to be special and not end up with both of us frustrated and annoyed at each other. Everyone keeps telling me that when the wedding is all over that we'll both do our adjusting and our relationship will be better than ever - but i want this last week to be a NICE memory...not something we both couldn't stand!!!! i need some support here girls :*(

Awww, I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's almost kind of typical at such a highly emotional, stressful time. Man, you shoulda heard the fights between my mom and my sis when she got married (although my sister is REALLY easy to fight with on a regular basis ).

Your mom knows you love her...and you know she loves you. You're both just going through intense emotions...and it will pass and your day will be AMAZING!! Let your mom sleep it off, and give her a big hug in the morning!

I am so sorry you and your mom are fighting. I totally understand how you feel b/c when I fight with my mom (we are extremely close), it bothers the $hit out of me and I cannot relax until we talk it over.

I am sure your mom is extremely happy for you and in the same breathe, she is probably nervous and excited at the same time. I am not sure if this is the first time you are moving out on your own but if so, she is probably sad that you will be leaving but happy b/c she knows you are going to start your own life with your FH.

My suggestion is go and tell her how you are feeling and how much you don't want to fight/argue and how much you love her and how much it hurts you when you two are fighting. Tell her how much you will miss her when you move out to be married and you want this time to bond with each other and not argue.

Good luck and keep us posted.

my mom is THE SAME WAY, my mom is my best friend literally...and me and her are soo close and ofcourse we have our stupid mother daughter petty fights, but sometimes she just starts crying, i dunno its so weird....too many emotions with us women

everyone will get used to it soon enough

My mom got worked up on my wedding day and I just said very directly 'Look, I know you are nervous and emotional. So am I. ' And for some reason she just snapped out of it. I think admitting I was a little nervous too helped... Especially that you still live with her she might be taking it really hard - that she is physically losing your presence.

Good Luck!

OMG, she is missing you already!! The week before my daughter left for college we fought so much, she was nervous and I was 'losing' one of my best friends. I'm sure that's all it is, just hug her and tell her how much you love her, no apologies needed.
