Feeling Guilty...

Feeling Guilty...

So I talk to my sister today (MOH) and she is stressing over the dresses, the bridal party and the shower. She lives in FL and is trying to plan from a distance. Well today she finds out that my relatives who had offered to host the shower has changed their minds. It was suppose to be a casual shower by a pool... but there don't think they could fit the crowd inside if it rains! So they are sorry but it just won't work... my sister is upset and I feel so horrible for her. I am the kind that loves to do things for other people but don't want people to go to any trouble for me! It is so expensive for all the things that my family and bridesmaids are already doing for me... I hate that they now have to start over and it will cost more $$$$.

Maybe they can find a good deal at a restaurant.. my friend had her shower at a chinese restaurant and it was great!

I know how you feel- I feel the same...but I was told by my priest to look at it this way: these people love you, and having you in their lives is truly a gift. It is their way of thanking you for being a great person

Sorry to hear this! How about helping her out? I don't my MOH and Mom to carry all the weight, along with my BM's, I'm helping them out - with the planning and money as well!

Don't feel bad... but as someone else mentioned, check out having it at a chinese restaurant, or in Applebees or someplace like that! You could even rent a hall and have food brought in - heros or platters. It would still be very nice!

This is just an idea:
If you are worried about the cost of the shower, I have one suggestion for a relatively inexpensive shower.

In DC, there are paint-your-own pottery shops that allow bridal showers. I imagine some of those shops on LI would do the same. You basically reserve some tables in their studio at no cost and they let you bring in food (can be simple like wine and cheese). During the shower, each guest selects and paints a pottery piece which is fired and picked up later (the item that each person paints can serve as their favor. Note: the cost of pottery pieces can range in price). As an alternative, each guest can paint a mug which becomes part of a set for the bride and groom). This studio in DC also provided a free platter that the group took turns painting and signing for a special memento for the bride. I am sure they allow gifts to be brought in and opened too.

It always seemed like a cute idea to me, especially if you like crafts and were on a budget.
