Feeling heavy at heart

Feeling heavy at heart

Have you ever had a hard time accepting an individual who a person that you are very close with is in a relationship with? The person never did anything to me or to the person who I am very close to, but bc of the society that we live in and from past experiences it is just difficult to accept that person? By no means am I giving the person an ultimatum or asking them to choose between me or the person that they are in a relationship with, its just that for me...its so difficult...I feel guilty, kind of bc the person that I am close with is very dear to me...its just that I can't...maybe not yet...

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and sorry if I'm rambling on

You didn't ramble. I understood, and can probably relate in some way.

I think that because you said you feel guilt over it, then there is a chance you will be able to reconcile your feelings about this person one day.

Could you maintain a relationship with your friend outside of her relationship?

Oh absolutely, its just that this person asked me how I felt about their SO and I just had to tell them the truth...I love them so much that I can't lie to them...but at the same time I know I hurt their feelings but I just couldn't help myself...this is how I feel...now...maybe one day things will change...but they might affect things like holidays and other functions.

That's a tough situation - but I give you much credit for being honest, as any GOOD friend should.

I agree. Syl- you're a good friend for being honest and expressing your feelings.

Katie - I think if this was the case in my situation it would of been easier to justify my feelings...but the thing is that this person never did anything wrong to me or to this person that I am close with...

Thank you ladies...I feel a little better although my pregnant hormones get the best of me sometimes...I need to snap out of it.

I was just asked by this dear person not to give up and to eventually give it a try...which made me even more

I guess there are things in life that even though we forgive and look past it, sometimes deep down inside we never tend to forget...

Ok now I am singing the JessicaM. tune

You sound like a great friend...my guess is that in the long run you will be able to get past whatever feelings you have for this person for the love of your friend.

Awww. You sound like a really good friend. You told her the truth, and that's what good friends do. Maybe you need to explore your own feelings about this person. Maybe the guilt you're struggling with is over not liking the person even though they've done nothing to you or your friend? I say that only because it seems like your friend's SO might be a nice enough person, but you said you don't accept this person 'bc of the society that we live in and from past experiences'.

Those same words came out of my mouth concerning a friend's SO--FH merely looks at me, shakes his head and goes back to whatever he was doing....
